Turn Off The Dark, the production the Dublin band has written music and lyrics for, is set to open on Broadway in New York in 2010. They also confirmed American actress Evan Rachel Wood would play the part of MJ and revealed more about the other characters. ...Bono said: "We've got a new villain, it's a girl. A young British actress has hanged herself in her Paris flat just two days before her 29th birthday, it emerged today. The body of Oxford-born Lucy Gordon, who had starred in number of big budget Hollywood films including Spider-Man 3, was found suspended from the ceiling of her mansion block apartment. Police made the grisly discovery after entering the flat close to the River Seine on Wednesday morning. ‘It was a horrific scene,’ said one. ‘The young woman had taken her own life in terrible circumstances. During times of great challenge and difficulty, people look for a hero, whether that hero be within themselves or without.. Most of us, being human, look outside to the storytellers and the mythmakers for our inspiration. The storytellers and mythmakers among us, using image, sound and language, are able to articulate the human condition and therefore ourselves. Ancient Greece during the 5th century, a time of war, disease and famine, saw the Golden Age of theater, philosophy, sculpture, political rhetoric and oratory. Art is and always will be a beautiful flower in the ugliest of times.

Once, comic books were against Nazis and Hitler and were very up front in supporting America's fight against them. But those days are over. Both DC and Marvel Comics long ago embraced left-wing politics, and when it came to the war on terror, they were for the most part silent. Fighting "global warming" and on behalf of other mythical left-wing creations was far more important (as was transforming Wonder Woman into an ugly, steroidal man). Now, though, comic books are back to supporting the President, since he embodies their far-left ideology. Yup, Spider-Man is in the tank for Obama and...

With a comic book aficionado about to be sworn in as the president of the United States, it’s no surprise that comic book makers are eager to capitalize on their new inside-in-the-beltway connection. But is it true that comic books are now turning partisan? Inside are five pages of Obama-Spider-Man escapades, as Spider-Man stops the Chameleon from spoiling Obama’s swearing-in....“Even Comic Books Crawling with Pro-Obama Bias?,” asks Ken Shepherd at...

Spiderman in Tehran 25/07/2008 By Amir Taheri "A picture is worth a thousand words!" This is the proverb invented by an American photographer in the 1920s but ascribed to the Chinese for good effect. While not always true, like all other proverbs, it is surprisingly accurate on some occasions. No picture could replace a thousand words by Neffari or Roumi. But no number of words could replace the 1990 photo of an Afghan teenage girl with terror in her green eyes, reflecting two decades of war and famine. Sometimes, however, words are needed to reveal the hidden meanings of a...

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's infamous movie pirates have done it again -- "Spider-Man 3" is already being sold on Beijing's streets almost two weeks ahead of its U.S. premier. Costing just over $1 apiece, the pirated DVDs appear to be of the actual movie, complete with a picture of the hero in a new, black spider suit which he wears for some of the film. There is even a warning on the back, printed in Chinese, against pirating the product. But put the one bought on Tuesday in the machine, and it does not work -- a common problem with...

A NewsBusters reader alerted me a few minutes ago to London Times film critic Leo Lewis and how he threw in a complaint about the American flag's brief cameo in "Spider-Man 3." The superhero sequel is set for wide release in the United States on May 4, Lewis filed his review from Tokyo. Lewis liked the film overall (3 out of 5 stars) but was disappointed that the evil alter-ego that inhabits Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) in the film is "still hopelessly mild-mannered." Of course, unlike say "Grindhouse," "Spider-Man" is intended for a wide audience from fathers and sons to...

Well, here we go again. Another Eurotrash, elitist whining that there is a US flag in an American movie... Ending an inconsequential review of the upcoming movie Spider-Man 3, Timesonline reviewer Leo Lewis complains: Also disappointing is the inability of the director, Sam Raimi, to end the romp without a fleeting shot of the American flag. The Stars and Stripes just happens to be fluttering behind Spidey as he makes his triumphal return to honour, probity and good honest fist-fighting. Lewis acts as if an American movie based on an American icon of the American comic book industry must somehow...

In the first three fraudulent reports to the FEC for her 2000 Senate campaign, Hillary reported that Stan Lee had given a $100,000 check. In a Dec. 2005 CONCILIATION AGREEMENT, treasurer Andrew Grossman admitted the failure to report $721K. The campaign was fined $35K and the FEC ordered a fourth amended report. Suddenly, the $100,000 has magically disappeared from the report. Nevertheless, Hillary still claimed that Stan Lee gave $225,000 in-kind. She knows that is not true. She knows that he has testified to the contrary. WORLD NET DAILY ARTICLE THAT REFERENCES MY PHONE DISCUSSION WITH LEE IN APRIL 2006....
