Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow expands after What If? revival's early success

Marvel's experiment to expand its trademark alt-history 'What If?' stories from one-shots to limited series appears to be a success.

Chip Zdarsky and Pasqual Ferry's Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow limited series has been given an extra issue, going from four to five issues in length. This comes 12 days after the Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow #1 went on sale - an issue which sold out, with a second printing scheduled for late May.

The concept of Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow is pretty simple, but with massive storytelling implicates: what if Peter Parker wasn't able to resist the dark turn the Venom symbiote was trying to take him on? Instead of kicking it to the curb where it finally obtained its finalized Venom form with the more corruptible Eddie Brock, in Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow Peter Parker is unable to fight it off and succumbs to the dark power of the Venom symbiote - despite his responsibilities.

What If was always pretty good decades ago.

But Marvel showed the power of a corrupt media spreading lies and destroying lives in the form of the Daily Bugle.

Marvel showed the corruption and and fascism of the government via the mutant registration act and the superhero registration acts.....all to get control over fellow humans because they are too dangerous to be given individual liberty.

Yes, Marvel has gone into social issues. But they were pretty good most of the time.

Iron Man 2 showed the gov’t trying to confiscate weapons from civilians.

Captain America 2 showed how easily our intelligence agencies can be corrupted from within and turned into criminal organizations.

The Black Panther movie showed that victimhood creates violence and more hatred.

Infinity War showed how environmentalists believe they know what is better for you.

Excellent summary. Infinity war is a must see for conservatives - imho.

LOL... I thought the same thing at the time, but then they couldn't have had the talking part. Thanos was a great villain.

>>Marvel’s experiment to expand its trademark alt-history ‘What If?’ stories

DC did these even even earlier and called them “Imaginary tales”

when some readers complained about the dream stories and imaginary tales that weren’t part of the historical series/canon because they are “just made up stories” the editor (Jules Schwartz?) replied THEY ARE ALL MADE UP!

“mutants” consider themselves better than other (certainly Magneto does) and they routinely violate humans’ privacy (identity theft, reading their minds, invisibily snooping on people, etc).

The death of Gwen Stacy is one of Spider-Man's most tragic stories, but now Peter Parker has suffered a tragedy that is arguably even sadder. (Warning: spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Spider's Shadow #1)

Brutal. Shocking. Excellent!

Also I got another comic book which turns out has a trailer:
FANTASTIC FOUR #32 - THE BRIDE OF DOOM Trailer | Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom gets engaged.
The end is gripping.
I don't know, is gripping the right word?
The end is nigh! (that makes no sense)
The end, let's say the last page instead... is ....
Humongous!
Humongous?
I'll think about it...

Brutal. Shocking. Excellent!
Venom/Parker drops body parts of Scorpion at Kingpin's feet and then punches him straight through the head.
