Atkins, 61, becomes the first of the Charles Manson followers on life sentences to die while in California prisons. She died Thursday night as the longest-serving female inmate in the state. Atkins was convicted in the 1969 murders at the home of actress Sharon Tate in Benedict Canyon and the Loz Feliz home of Rosemary and Leno LaBianca. Atkins, raised in San Gabriel, killed Tate while the pregnant 26-year-old actress was tied with a rope tossed over a ceiling beam. "I was stoned, man, stoned on acid," Atkins testified during the penalty phase of her trial. "I don't know how many times I stabbed (Tate) and I don't know why I stabbed her. She kept begging and pleading and begging and pleading and I got sick of listening to it, so I stabbed her." ......

Atkins testified before a Los Angeles Grand Jury, hoping to avoid the death penalty. She revealed how she held down Sharon Tate as she pleaded for her and the baby's life. She recounted how she told Tate, "Look, bitch, I don't care a thing about you. You're going to die and there's nothing you can do about it." To cause more suffering, they held off killing Tate until all others were dead, and then stabbed her repeatedly while she called out for her mother. Atkins later recanted her testimony."

She might be in Heaven, but she ain’t gonna get the ‘reward’ she might have gotten.
That’s right. She’s relegated to a lower level.
But we can’t second guess God.

One could hope that, I suppose, but I think it would be rather presumptuous to even hope that God would actually have any of us into his Kingdom.
Why? She didn’t show any mercy to Sharon Tate and her child.
No way... she should have been executed for her crime.
