I started using the Promise active Supershots for Cholesterol and Blood Pressure nearly 2 years ago. My bad LDL dropped 60 points using the Cholesterol and my blood pressure has never been better. Well, in the last 3 weeks my local stores have not carried them any longer saying they were being discontinued.
Sure enough, I go online to find out this morning that this is indeed the truth and there are literally thousands of threads on Google about this but no clear answers. The only theory that seems to be circulating is that the FDA was getting down on Promise because it was getting pressure from the pharmaceutical industry's cholesterol medication manufacturers to take it off the shelves as it was hurting their numbers.
Is this true? Any other Freepers have any insight to this? These shots were really helping and to see them vanish with no reason why is really disturbing.
They cause rabbi’s.
You can blame the tort lawyers. They are the cause of most misery and pain these days.

Promise Activ SuperShots
Summary of Investigation: Welcome to the webpage maintained by Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP (”SFMS”) for its investigation of Promise Activ SuperShots (”SuperShots”) yogurt drinks that are marketed and sold by Unilever as helping to control blood pressure. Upon information and belief, contrary to Unilevers marketing and sales practices, the SuperShots yogurt drinks may not control blood pressure as advertised.
If you have purchased and consumed SuperShots and would like to share your experience or speak with us about our investigation, please contact us by filling out the form below.
Utter crap! You gotta be kidding me? I am living proof they work. My numbers were going DOWN along with tens of thousands of others that are posting their history on the net.
Oh, no!!! SuperShots brought my total cholesterol levels down from the 270s to 200. I wondered why it was getting hard to find in the grocery stores. That stuff is great! This makes no sense. What about the other products that have plant sterols (i.e. Smart Balance, etc.)??? Same active ingredient. Of course, if everyone discontinues statins in favor of plant sterols to effective bring down their cholesterol levels, the pharmaceutical companies are going get hit in the wallet big time. This makes just about as much sense as the FDA going after Cheerios. Geez!
If SuperShots are discontinued, I’ll just go to the health food store and buy supplements with plant sterols. They are safer, effective, and have no side effects unlike the pharmaceuticals. Follow the money trail. Big Pharma stands to lose the most.
My husband takes policosanol instead of statins.
He takes 20 mg a day, I believe. I know that when I have seen threads about cholesterol and blood pressure, some Freepers mention Red Yeast as well.
I believe there is a health ping list, but I do not know who keeps it.
Do you own due diligence!
Totally agree with everything you just said and will have to resort to doing the same thing. This story needs legs...killing a shelf item that is proving big results for people is criminal.
"Thank you for writing! All the Promise Activ Supershots have been discontinued as of August 28, 2009. Our company's goal is to provide consumers with a variety of products to meet their needs and preferences. As you know, marketing is a complex function, and many business factors are taken into consideration before discontinuing a product. Before a product becomes available at the retail level, much time and expense is involved in perfecting the recipe, consumer focus testing, and marketing support. It truly saddens us when we must discontinue a product. However, consumer demand is a major factor. When the level of demand is insufficient to ensure that consumers receive high quality products at an affordable price, the product may be discontinued. We apologize that this product is no longer available and hope you will continue to enjoy our products. We recommend trying our PROMISE ACTIV LIGHT (FORMERLY TAKE CONTROL) SPREAD which contains plant sterol esters. Kind regards, Your friends at Unilever wsh"
Thanks for posting this. I am still pissed the pulled it when it was helping so many...self included.
So that’s what happened?!! I’ve been looking all over the place for my shots. Damn, they actually worked...and they taste good!
