Right now USC may be ranked higher then they should be, but that may be because people are assuming that Washington is better then they thought, which they probably are, but another loss by them and it makes USC look worse for losing to them.

That got me to thinking: how many games does UW have to win to make that loss not seem quite so bad? 7, 8, maybe even 9 or 10? With their subsequent loss to Stanford, I don't think there's as much margin for error now as there might be to make that loss look better.

Have fun at the game on Saturday and if you're taking BART up to Memorial Stadium, do the two Berkeley BART stations still constantly smell like urine?

The punching incident aside, I kind of thought that this would be a season where the Lobos would start from scratch as well. And from what I’ve been able to read on Locksley, he is a good recruiter. I could be totally wrong here, but I can still see this year for UNM being similar to what 2007 was for Colorado State where they went 3-9 and the very next year won the New Mexico Bowl. I do suppose only time will tell though.

Yeah, the Bearcats look amazing right now. The Big East has gotten a bad rap in the past few seasons, but even outside of Cincy, there are a few teams playing pretty solid.

Now, you mention tailgating and since this became an interest of mine since I became an adult, I’m curious if you folks out in the Great State of New Jersey have any elaborate sorts of setups for tailgating purposes. I may have to discuss tailgating more in depth later on in the season.

Ive been looking at your Top 10 here and as much as I like your work with this, I did want to take a look at a few of the teams you have here and see if I can break them down a bit. So here we go.

3. Oregon

If UO didn’t have a loss already this would be okay. I do think you might have been able to get away with ranking Boise State here, since they are the team that beat the Ducks in Week 1.

4. Iowa
5. Michigan

When I first saw this I thought “hey, these two teams play each other next week!” As I said in the matchups portion of the thread this week, the Hawkeyes are playing some pretty good defense, but that might not be enough against a resurgent Michigan team. You get points for teasing to next week’s game(s) with that one. :)

7. Kansas
10. Nebraska

Not sure about these two. I’ll have to explain my thoughts on this now that I’m dead tired.

Great news...just saw on College Gameday that Mark Herzlich’s (BC) doctor is 99% sure he is cancer free. A few more chemo’s and they have to insert a rod in his femur, but he still says he WILL play next year.

He continued to lift weights and workout after chemo and radiation treatments. What incredible will power.

I have seen friends and family after chemo and their strength was so tapped that walking to the bathroom became a chore.

From beautiful Spanish Springs Nevada

Spanish Springs is in a similar neck of the woods from where I used to live. Lived in Sparks for 2 years and lived up in Northwest Reno for about a year and a half. A part of me still misses Northern Nevada.

It’s just about high noon in the East and we are set to go for college football action. In the Top 25 there are but two games coming up:
Alabama/Kentucky
Michigan/Michigan State

But on television for the early slate of games
Clemson/Maryland

and the Battle for the Paul Bunyan Axe in Minneapolis
Wisconsin/Minnesota

My re-ping at 3:30 Eastern will be a little more active than this one so just keep your eyes peeled.

I was just asking my husband who that was with the gang on Game Day - and he was telling me his story. He looked great - good news about his health

So in honor of Boise State’s homecoming, my brother’s wife painted his toenails orange. I’m pretty sure it was by design. And you thought your family was strange.

It’s expected to rain here tonight for the Boise State/UC Davis game. Don’t be surprised to see that game be closer than expected.
