Someone with knowledge here might be able to explain: Can a 9mm “go off” when someone is loading it, as the article says?
I’m not being flip. I’m sure the man’s son feels terrible, and I hope the man recovers quickly and fully. I’m just asking a question about the 9mm.
>> A 9 mm pistol went off as one of his sons was loading it.
Handy hints:
1/ Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. (I don’t know where old guys pick this up, but we watch ‘em like hawks in our concealed carry classes.)
2/ Grandpa, maybe you can get someone with brains to teach you ‘bout shootin’ irons.
When being handled improperly, pretty much any gun can go off in any number of circumstances. So, the quick answer is yes. The right answer is that this guy needs a better teacher.
Handled properly, no firearm fires merely in the act of loading or unloading.
