Vanity: Are There Freepers Wishing to Hire Other Freepers?
enquiring mind | 10/04/09 | self

We have some FReepers desperate to get back into the workforce after being laid off, with families to support. Great guys and gals who believe the way you believe. If they are local to you, wouldn't you prefer to give one of them the chance over just anyone off the street?

NJ BSN and EMT here, good references, quick learner, willing to do most anything, any hours, first degree in math, stay-at-home mom re-entering job market smack into the recession (kids bigger now, childcare not an issue.)

I have a virtual spam proof email address - pop mail cost me 6 bucks a year with built in filtering... no it does not reveal my full name... And I don’t care if it traverses the Internet... ‘cause nothing much bad will happen.

Wouldn't it expose the employer to charges of nepotism? ;-)

Contrary to what the libs believe, we are not all inbred cousins, LOL.

BRAVO ... Considering the times, we should have a job networking thread... Who knows where a referral will come from... ? I work in IT in the Banking Business ... no openings right now in my Dept. but a few months from now ... who knows...

Plus vacancies do occur where one works - even in these times ... letting a fellow FREEPER know should be on the top of everyone’s list.

If I find an opening where I work for a loan officer, credit analyst or whatever... I’ll be glad to let others know.

But - you just have to like North Texas — greater Dallas - Fort Worth area...

How about a registry of some type...

Good idea for a thread.

I don’t have any jobs, but some tech jobs are coming back to the Durham/Raleigh area.

May be Freepers can describe the job situation in their location to help out those that might have to move to find a job.

Good luck to your friend.

Not necessarily. A lot of companies like mine like referrals because you're putting your reputation on the line (if you have one) by speaking for a potential good hire. My company even offers referral bonuses if the person is hired.

Aerospace is my gig. If there are any aeronautical engineers looking for a job in SoCal check out Northrup Grumman. A buddy of mine works for them and was trying to get me to move to NG for a job, but told him I was fine where I was at. Lockheed to a smaller degree. There's nothing wrong with having someone putting resumes on the right desks, it sometimes pays off.

Hello::

Freeper member since 2003.

I have been the logistics business of freight forwarding for almost 15 years involved with airlines, trucks, aero parts, Aircraft On Ground situations. Currently in North Carolina. Looking into any new fast vocational training while searching. Also involved with a seller of Jet Fuel and oil products to major buyers. If anyone has connections to someone who buys large amounts of oil, please contact me. God bless Free Republic.

I've been hoping and praying someone would post a thread like this. Thank you, Yaelle, for doing so.

Freepers, we HAVE to take care of our own. If you have a job opening, post it here.

Let's use freepmail as the great tool it is for this employment fair.

Hiring a freeper for a position needs no further recommendations. The word "freeper" alone is a fine "resume" in itself.....and is like sterling on silver.

To participate in this noble cause, I'll donate ten bucks to FR for every employer-hiree connection consumated on or from this thread during the next six months. Just notate my screen name "MinuteGal" and ping me to your sucessful hook-up if and when it takes place.

Bless you all, and bless Free Republic for all the opportunities it presents to us.

And a pox on you, Obama.....we'll overcome your evil intentions to wreck our country because "we can", and we'll certainly outsmart you at every turn.

I was laid off after 9/11 and struggled to find a job. I had to take contracts out of town. I finally landed a permanent job 7 minutes away.

Maybe some Freepers know of good places to look for jobs.

I used to use Monster.com. It was a good place for contract jobs in the tech industry.

Maybe other Freepers know the best places to look for jobs in transportation.

Wonderful and guess what I will do? If I get hired as a result of a successful hook-up consummated on or from this thread, after the date of hire I will donate $10 to FR for every successful hook-up for 6 months.

I love your post. Believe me, if my guy in the opening post gets a job through this thread I will double my traditionally hefty quarterly donation (anonymous but JimRob will know!) for at least one year!!
