Entertaining in his day. RIP
I recently read an article saying that he had been moved to hospice. RIP Captain Lou.

Isn’t he Cyndi Lauper’s real father?
Not related.
Still remember the NRBQ song.
I remember him, now. He was in a couple of Cindy Lauper vids I believe. RIP.
MTV’s brief golden age ended when they inexplicably turned the channel over to Cyndi Lauper and her pro wrestling freakshow featuring Albano et al.
Was he denied care or did he die despite the efforts of doctors to save him?
A big part of my 1980s TV watching when I was a kid. A video icon with Cyndi Lauper as well...RIP Lou. May your heaven be filled with endless rubber bands.
I had always thought that was just a bit myself.
I liked the rubber bands in his beard. That was a classy, tasteful touch. Attractive also.
But then, so much about “professional” “wrestling” really is isn’t it?

Wow, and I already had a hard time deciding if my Halloween costume should be Michael Jackson, Ted Kennedy, or Walter Cronkite!

RIP He had quite a good sense of humor.
Day day for Italians.

“Wow, and I already had a hard time deciding if my Halloween costume should be Michael Jackson, Ted Kennedy, or Walter Cronkite!”
Depends. If you are going for the effect of scaring children (especially boys) you gotta go with Michael.
RIP
As always, if you'd like ON or OFF my wrasslin' ping list, let me know
He was a good Mario.
RIP
Well, Since We're Talking About Wrestling: Cyndi Lauper, Mr. T, Hulk Hogan And...Andy Warhol?!? Posted 3/31/08 4:49 pm ET by MTV News in MTV News VaultSince we posted about 50 Cent skipping out on Wrestlemania down below, it got one of our producers, Andrew Millard, thinking about one of the more bizarre segments in the MTV News vaults.
Andrew writes:
Any wrestling story is an excuse to dust off some of the classic WWF footage we have in our library. Witness the post match interview from 1985's "The War To Settle The Score" - the precursor to Wrestlemania I. It features Mean Gene Okerlund interviewing an extremely agitated Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, Capt. Lou Albano and Cyndi Lauper. Oh, and also pro-wrestling's least likely fan, Andy Warhol.
Seriously? Yeah, Seriously. It's like someone made the whole thing up.
And while they may claim to be wrestling rock, The Dictators had Handsome Dick Manitoba on lead vocals (starting around 1973).
Captain Lou Albano, legendary WWF-era wrestling manager and Cyndi Lauper video star, dies at 76
He appeared with NRBQ and the song was “Captain Lou Albano.”
Can’t remember the album name.
Never a diehard fan of WWF but Lou seemed to fit right in with the big show. RIP Lou. I did once go see the WWF at the county fair hockey rink, where I got to see Andre the Giant wrestle three victims at once. He flogged them for awhile and finished them off by knocking their three heads together like coconuts. There was no seating, and our group having enjoyed some brews before the event, were rolling on the ground in laughter. Just seeing Andre was worth the price of admission.
Mario’s the first thing that comes to mind when I hear his name. I never did see him wrestle.
RIP Capt.
So long you pencil neck geek.
youre thinking of the wrong guy i think.
RIP Captain Lou!
O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
-Walt Whitman
RIP.
RIP, Cap’n Lou.
Classy Freddie Blassie was the one who said that.
I was trying for a little humor here. That's the way Classy Fred would have eulogized Captn Lou.
I happen be in attendance to see Capt'n Lou and his tag team win the tag team title "Mike Rotundo & Barry Windham Hartford, CT 01-21-85". It was totally unexpected (which is rare in wresting). I think Capt'n Lou was a bad guy the day before. This was just before the Cyndi Lauper era.
I’m old enough to remember Lou Albano as an active wrestler, and seeing him tag-team with Tony Altamore. I remember being somewhat surprised when he suddenly started showing up as a manager.
ok, sorry about that:)
