I liked bat files. I once edited the command.com file so it would look like you were formatting the C: drive when you did a diskcopy. You could change the text in commands if you kept the same number of characters.

I haven’t defragged a hard drive this century. Way back when drives were slow it might be a little useful, but really it’s a hobby for hopeless tweekers desperate for every millisecond.

Thanks. I don’t use the automatic upgrade option. I have all versions back to 1.27 in my archive if you need one.

“Nod32 is better. Unfortunately, it’s not free.”

I totally agree. I don’t run anything else BUT NOD 32. I’m into my 2nd year and have had absolutely NO problems since I started using it.

IE Spell It adds a spell checker to any version of IE. Just right-click in any text box and choose "Check Spelling". You can also highlight a word and look it up in a dictionary or Wikipedia. It's small but very useful.

I found a much better free defragger recently. MyDefrag is a successor of JKDefrag, and it is very flexible and customizable defrag program.

JDiskReport, by Karsten Lentzsch.

You select it when right-clicking a directory in Windows Explorer, and it gives you an interactive pie chart of the space utilization of the files and folders contained therein. Easy install and trouble-free.

IrfanView

Yes! A very handy little Swiss Army knife of image conversion, cropping, rescaling, color adjustment, etc.
