Msconfig. Drop a few key items from the startup (after logon) sequence and the time from logon to a working desktop will dramatically decrease.

Even with how good Win7 is, those idiots at MS still can’t make a better file manager than xplorer2 lite.

Mac OS X. :)

Okay, for real. Some borderline requisite software to use Windows: ESET Smart Security (best antivirus/antimalware/firewall software package on the market, IMO); Diskeeper (best defragmenter available, shame that Windows still fragments the disk in the first place); Firefox plus Adblock plus Noscript for better browsing; and of course, up to date hardware drivers. No, the drivers Windows Update tries to shove down your throat do not count as up to date.

Add-on for Firefox.

Ghostery alerts you about the web bugs, ad networks and widgets on every page on the web.

Web bugs are hidden scripts that track your behavior and are used by the sites you visit to understand their own audience.

Best thing ever.

Deep cleans the registry. Set it up and it does all the work. I love it! Use it once a week.

Sweepi http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Sweepi/sweepi.html

Clean up tool. Deep cleans better then any other cleaner I've used. I love it! Use it once a week also.

etriloquist..free...is a text to talk program with a ton of features. I lost my voice box to cancer (agent orange) and etriloquest was a life saver for a bunch of months till I learned an alternate voice method.
And on I just put in today...MONITORS WEATHER AND POSTS IT ON TWITTER. Go to grantsvillewx on twitter to see it working. It is called Cirrus and it is free (my kinda price).

Why, yes! My favorite Windoze programs are those that run in virtual machines, so that we can see how trashy the anti-American, pro-communist software is without letting viruses in.

Virtual PC 2007 from Microsoft.

It allows you to install older versions of Windows inside virtual machines on your current OS. Although not advertised for Vista 32, version 2007 will let you install it.

I have a virtual machine for Windows 98 and Windows XP on my Vista machine.
