You are so-o-o right! IMO, when both parents choose to have others bring up their children so they can pursue their own careers, I do question whether they are selfish or greedy for material things.
Kids don't need elegant houses in high-end neighborhoods. They deserve to have their parent's presence and attention.
An au pair I've spoken with on numerous occasions described the parent's role with the children she minded for a year. Both parents have careers and gave little time to their children, due to their late hours and outside interests.
Oh, they were obviously making big money, but their children were suffering for lack of their attention. The truth is, they were brats.
Pathetic and disgusting.
No better way to say it. Who needs to read the detailed description of what so many of us have experienced? Definitely inappropriate.
