New Jersey Exposes Two Parties' Peril- Fastest-growing political group in U.S. "none of the above."

The fastest-growing political group in America is "none of the above."

There is mounting evidence that even as Democrats slog through a bruising health debate, mounting deficits and bleak unemployment numbers, those political difficulties aren't doing much to directly help their foes, the Republicans. In fact, Republicans themselves are sliding in public esteem, so much so that some polls are finding support for GOP leaders reaching historic lows. The category that's growing in 2009, by contrast, is political independents. Data produced by the Pew Research Center, in fact, show the share of Americans identifying themselves as independents at a historic high.

This is more than an abstract finding. There is an important contest under way that will test how the rising "pox on both your houses" thinking can affect real

Over the last decade the GOP has shown itself to be a big government, tax-and-spend, lightweight version of the DNC. The public is fed up with this and both suffer. Neither represents core American values.

Exactly. We need a party for those of us who'd rather take care of ourselves than depend on a bureaucrat to care.

The Republicans used to say that supporting a third party would hand victories to the Democrats, but the Republicans are managing to hand them victories with any help from a third party. I’ve been a Republican since I cast my first vote in 1972, but squishy politics and fear of the MSM has turned the Republicans into a fifth column for the Democrats, and I’m finished with them. Trying to defeat the ‘bama with political correctness and appeasement may have done irreparable damage to my country. If there is a third party of conservatives that dooms America, at least we’ll go down fighting, which is more than the Republicans have to offer.

The overall quality of our politicians is horrific.

The problem really is that 96% of politicians are lawyers and only a lawyer would want to hang around with them.

The last place good people who are truly brilliant would want to be is in that cesspit of average-to-low intelligence snakes and scumbags who have no moral core and are all out for themselves.

The solution is to ban anybody with a law degree from public office.

America's Independent Party: the only national political party that endorses Doug Hoffman for Congress (founded by FReepers, 100% Reagan conservative!)
