One exception might be Russia. When I visited the Soviet Union in 1972, the only beer available was Moskovskaya, which made Hamm's, arguably America's worst-tasting beer, seem like draft Spatenbräu.

You are way behind the times, my friend. The good ol' USA has undergone quite a beer renaissance in the last 15 years or so, and there are now many, many good, thick, rich, dark beers to choose from in this country, mostly microbrews, but there is no reason that any poor son of a gun should have to drink Budweiser anymore.
