Not at all...a completely different thing. Guinness is good, but Chimay Blue is intense and complex. I like both of them.

I generally like to drink the beer I brew, though. I haven’t tried brewing a Belgian Ale, though.

guinness is also a shadow of its former self. I can remember in the early 90s drinking it bottled and bottle-conditioned - the beer was so complex it tasted great warm. i still vividly remember driving to atlanta to buy a bunch of cases, only to get home and find 1) the back label had changed and 2) it tasteed a lot worse (didnt understand the bottle-conditioning change until years later).

the current product has been unrecognizable to me for over a decade. there are much better irish stouts out there, though sourcing can be tricky...
