From the good old days of assault weapon commercials. You can tell it's Mattel. It's swell.

I can remember getting the “James Bond” det. kit as a kid. that was fun too. the stuff the kids get today, no way to use their minds and play outside. Just become mindnumbed robots/drones to do as they are told to do by big brother!

I remember those safe shootin’ shells, the fanner fifty, and the swivel holster. Mattel made a lot more than Barbi dolls.

If I ‘m not mistaken that’s Andy Griffith’s “Otis the town drunk” both as the bad guy and pitch man.

My favorite is at a minute and 27 seconds.

We had cap guns when I was a kid in the early 80s. The toy stores were full of them. Then in the 90s I remember noticing that cap guns were kind of rare. The shift came some time in the 90s, or maybe even late 80s.

A few weeks ago I was in a neat hardware store. They sell all kinds of ‘yesteryear’ stuff. Old remedies, soaps, tools.
Fascinating store.
Black Mountain Hardware in Black Mountain, NC. near Asheville.

Actually have cowboy cap gun sets! And caps.

One Christmas I got a Johnny Eagle "Magumba" safari rifle (looked a lot like a scoped Winchester Model 70) and matching pistol. They flung spring-loaded plastic bullets about 30 feet.

Two Christmases later I got a scoped bolt action .22 LR and put the toys away for good.

My 9 yr old just complained about the unfairness of this :-)

He should be given the same opportunities.

Back in the VietNam War Mattel used to make stocks for the M16.

If it’s Mattel, it’s swell!

Today think of all the law suits for all the damaged eyes. I had the western style revolver that shot plastic spring propelled bullets.
