I’m with you on this. Up through the 70’s I believe the pregnant service member could opt for a discharge. I can remember at least one case around 1978 in our squadron.

When I was in the Navy in the late ‘80s, women who got pregnant were out faster than spit through a trumpet. I don’t know what kind of discharge it was.
