A 79-year-old motorcyclist is dead after he hit a moose near Gibbons on Sunday night.
Morinville RCMP were called to the collision on Highway 28A south of Gibbons around 7:30 p.m. along with paramedics and firefighters.
By the time police arrived, EMS were already attempting to resuscitate the unresponsive man.
Police say the victim, from Fort Saskatchewan, was driving his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle when he hit a moose, fell off the bike and onto the road.
A car that had been driving behind the man also hit the moose, then the motorcycle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was not hurt. Police say the moose was killed in the accident.
RCMP are not releasing the victim's name at the request of his family.
Meanwhile, a 56-year-old moose hunter from Edmonton is dead after he rolled his ATV near Fox Creek Saturday morning.
Police say sometime before 10:30 a.m. the man was hauling a moose carcass on an ATV 165 km northwest of Fox Creek on Simmonette Road when it rolled.
An acquaintance found him some time later pinned under the vehicle, but managed to use the ATV to drive for help.
When RCMP and paramedics arrived on scene, the man was declared dead. Police are not releasing the man's name at the request of his family.

Running into a moose with a motorcycle is not advised. I saw something about Alaska Troopers and they have moose lights (really bright intense headlights in addition to their normal headlights) on their cars so they don’t hit one when they are going 90 mph.
Did the moose survive? If not, will they hold the motorcyclists next of kin accountable?
Moose Tracks
I can understand hitting a deer because they panic easily and dart on to the road, but a moose? I just don’t see them exploding out from behind a bush.
My biggest fear riding a motorcycle is hitting a deer. Next down the line would be soccer moms on cell phones...yikes!
Whatta moose-take-a to make-a!
Has Rocky been notified?
I won't make light of the moose vs. man death. Was the second accident with the motorcycle or the motorcyclist? Some days it's just your time.
An easily missed warning sign.
Moose kills man is more newsworthy than Man kills moose or Man and moose collide, both die.
I bet he’d rather have hit the gibbons.
Moose aren’t very smart beasts, but they abide by the laws of physics anyway.
Or with a car, or with a truck smaller than a full-size trash hauler.
So did they need to call a CBSA agent in to give the coup de grace? And if so, who to, the moose or the biker?
A Honda Golden Wing fully dressed out is big but adult moose are bigger..
RIP Rider and Moose
how long before they blame this on Palin? (sarc)
