Lyrics to The Kingsmen's version of the song Louie Louie
"Louie Louie" is an American rock 'n' roll song written by Richard Berry in 1955. It has become a standard in pop and rock, with hundreds of versions recorded by different artists. The song is written in the style of a Jamaican ballad; and tells, in simple verse-chorus form, the first-person story of a Jamaican sailor returning to the island to see his lady love.

BTTT
You can NOT get too much “Louie Louie”!
One of life’s great mysteries has been solved...
I always thought it was just gibberish.
Like La Bamba.
I think this song was banned from the local radio stations in my area when it first came out. Probably due to the suspected obsenities.

Louie Louie Lyrics
Send “Louie Louie” Ringtone to your Cell
CHORUS:
Louie Louie, oh no
Me gotta go
Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said
Louie Louie, oh baby
Me gotta go
Fine little girl waits for me
Catch a ship across the sea
Sail that ship about, all alone
Never know if I make it home
CHORUS
Three nights and days I sail the sea
Think of girl, constantly
On that ship, I dream she’s there
I smell the rose in her hair.
CHORUS
Okay, let’s give it to ‘em, right now!
GUITAR SOLO
See Jamaica, the moon above
It won’t be long, me see me love
Take her in my arms again
Tell her I’ll never leave again
CHORUS
Let’s take it on outa here now
Let’s go!!
True story.
Oct ‘94 I’m in NH with two lady friends for the foliage. We drop into a restaurant in one of the resort hotels near Franconia Notch. As we’re finishing desert, folks come in from the bar and a fellow sets up for karaoke. Immediately, the girls get on me to sing...I’m outnumbered. So to stop the attack I say, “If he’s got the words to ‘Louie, Louie’, I’ll do it.” I figured, NOBODY knows the words to “Louie, Louie”.
I was wrong.
He had them.
I welched.....
totally lame but for some reason it all works. greatness
I remember how they used to do that. It was nice the adults in charge looked out for the kids. Unlike today. The unbelievable filth that kids are exposed to.
I mean we played that baby at every speed known to man (ok, there were only 3, but still) and debated the issue constantly.
I fear I will go to the grave with that question hanging over my head and haunting me throughout eternity. Well that and just who was it that put the bop in the bop-she-bop-she-bop.
Memories..... Trying to figure out the lyrics. The variations some people had who “knew” what the words were. Driving around listening to that on the radio. Seeing the Kingsmen play in person... oh ... 40+ years ago. And listening to it on my current favorites CD in my car now. LOL

Every time I hear that song I think of that Far Side cartoon where these marine biologists (I guess that's what they are) are on a boat in the middle of the ocean and they've lowered a microphone into the water to record whale song.
One of the scientists has headphones on and his eyes are bugged out with surprise at what he's hearing.
A whale has swum up to the microphone and starts singing, "Louie, Louie."
Ha haaaa! I crack up just thinking of it.
Frank Zappa, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Louie Louie. It don’t get any better
Same thing happened to me with “white sportcoat and a pink carnation”.
What kind of a kareoke dude carries with him THAT song??
I thought it was “bop shoe bop shoe bop”.
