I can only imagine the CO2 footprint required to create and transport the butter to that location. I am also surprised that they found it...didn’t Al Goracle says the ice caps completely melted or something. I could have sworn I saw the butter sticking out of the mouth of the stranded polar bear in his nobel award winning mockumentary!

I think I am becoming a wee bit cynical in my old age...

Nice thread - amazing photos. Sounds like folks from both DU (the idiots) and FreeRepublic are making comments on that site. (Pretty funny!)

What a hoot to come across this tonight! A couple hours ago my son set out to make hommade butter as a gift for his teachers. He’ll be glad to know his can be the gift that keeps on giving...and giving...

I got thinking about the Shackleton whiskey project, and the recent spate of topics about it, and thought, wait a second... hasn't this been in the news before? Anyway, thanks to everyone who has posted topics on it. Right now, we're giving the ping to Scott instead. Thanks NormsRevenge. "It's quite amazing how strong the smell is after nearly 100 years," Meek said at the hut. "I'm not sure I'd want it on my toast."

My husband was served a croissant and "cheese" on an Air France flight one time (he calls it Air Chance). He mentioned to the stewardess that the "cheese" was very good. She corrected him and said, "That was BUTTER, monsieur."
