Changing the subject without being caught has always been a skill I am blessed with.

Most know but it isn’t her place to tell them. If today’s teachers haven’t got sense enough to recognize how much they can impact children they need to stick to the subjectst and be robots ‘cause they are poor excuses for humans.

Why rob children of their fantasies when they cold reality will be in their faces soon enough?

I think what she did is just cruel and stupid.

My mother said that when she found out that Santa wasn't real, she wondered if God was real.

I didn't tell my kids Santa was real for that reason. I would sometimes act like he was real, but sometimes I would just ask the kids if they thought he was real or make believe. That way if they aren't ready to give up believing in Santa, they don't have to, but if they are ready, they are proud that they figured it out for themselves.

When my daughter was 5 or 6 years old and asked me about these things I told her to enjoy the Santa Claus stuff if she wants but to remember that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ. Then she flat out asked me if Santa was real and I said: "No but Jesus is".

My wife was not happy with me for a while. Oh well.

Parent: “Yes, I’m sorry, Santa is make believe, he’s not real.”

Child: (thinking) “What about the Easter Bunny?”

Parent: “No, he’s not real either.”

Child: “Oh.” - “What about the Tooth Fairy?”

Parent: “No, the Tooth Fairy is just pretend too.”

Child: (sadly) “and I was beginning to like Jesus too.”

I think that’s something between the kids and parents. I don’t think a teacher should answer that. Personally, I found out a few months after Christmas when I was 9. I begged my Mom for the truth, and I wasn’t surprised but was disappointed to hear it. There was something about the magic of Santa that made Christmas fun. It wasn’t quite the same after that. I can’t wait to have children to live that magic all over again through them.

As far as those who say a 6th grader is too old to believe in Santa, why, I’d rather have that as opposed to a 6th grader who is sexually active and possibly trying alcohol and drugs. How much better would our society be if 6th graders would still act like the children they are as opposed to trying to act like the so-called “grownups” in the media?

A bratty cousin told me in 2nd grade. I didn’t believe her. I figured it out by 4th or 5th grade.

All of my kids figured it out on their own for the most part. Except with the first, my husband insisted I tell her when she was 9 (4th grade). After that, swore I would never tell the others, they’d figure it out on their own and ask me. The other 3 figured it out by the time they were in 5th grade or right afterwards.

I figured last year would be the last for Santa in our house, as the youngest was starting to question. Learned a couple months ago that she didn’t believe so no Santa this year :(

I like that. It’s beautiful, and it parallels to those who don’t believe in Jesus. Just because people can’t see and comprehend him, doesn’t mean he does not exist.

The real fairy tale that is being peddled to our children is -

'Barack Hussein Obama'.

'Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm'!

I was the brat to my 6 y.o. sister -— for the instant I was proudly dis-abusing her of an illusion, I thought......but then her misery and tears made me feel ashamed of myself.

If there's no Santa, then who the hell is it that leaves the carton of Lucky Strikes in my stocking every year?

You have a good heart and you will be blessed with children. You will be a parent whom your childrens friends will say to you “I wish my parents were more like you”.

As they should have! ;) Meanie.

When my oldest learned there was so Santa (jolly guy in red suit who was able to travel the world in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, giving gifts all in one night), I made her promise not to tell her younger sisters. Plus, she was the big girl now and could help wrap gifts and prepare for Christmas, lol. She was part of the adult world and shared a secret. And, her helping wrap gifts was huge since I hate wrapping gifts. Then the next kid, a year younger, learned there was no Santa, so she was part of the magical secret for her younger sisters...and she could help wrap gifts, lol, but she’s still an awful “wrapper” just like her mom. Then the 3rd kid learned there was no Santa but the youngest couldn’t know...They all kept the secret and didn’t ruin it for their younger sisters.

This year, the youngest knows there’s no Santa, and being the youngest, she’s not happy about that although she has helped wrapped gifts.
