Here are video highlights of the Dallas Cowboys 24-0 impressive win over the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday to win the NFC East Championship, and roll into the NFC Playoffs as the number three seed.
The win means Dallas will host a playoff game next Saturday night against - the Philadelphia Eagles. Had they won, the Eagles could have clinched the number two seed in the playoffs, won the NFC East, and secured a bye next week. But it was not to be as Dallas dominated the game from start to finish in every phase.
The victory by the Cowboys was a shock to many, who have said repeatedly the Cowboys would "choke" in the big game. But Dallas has now won three straight "must have" games, beating the previously unbeaten New Orleans Saints - in New Orleans - three weeks ago, and shutting out the Redskins and the Eagles the last two weeks, 17-0 and 24-0. The back-to-back shutouts are the first ever in the history of the Cowboys.
Now the question becomes, can Dallas beat the Eagles three times this season, and two straight weeks? The rematch will be the first playoff game ever played in the new Cowboys Stadium, and will begin at 7:00 PM CT next Saturday on NBC. . . . (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

I guess this happened, at least partly, because they put some divisional games bunched at the end of the season.
When you are out-rushed 179-37, and allow over 5.5 yards per rush, you have big problems with a rematch the next week (and I’m an Eagles fan) - the Eagles really haven’t beaten a good team all year.
Having Felix Jones finally healthy makes a huge difference for Dallas.
This is old-school Cowboys football - dominate the running game to set up the passing game. The Eagles cannot blitz effectively if they are giving up nearly six yards per carry.
This is certainly true and it points to why it is so difficult for NFL teams to dominate division opponents who they must play twice a season. The team that loses the first game generally will throw away their game-plan while the team that wins will often try to replicate theirs. There are limits, of course. Injuries, capabilities of players, coaching flexibility, etc.
The last time the Cowboys were in this situation, they were playing an Arizona Cardinals team they had beaten easily twice during the regular season. Arizona won 20-7, and that was the start of the Cowboys’ playoff futility.
Question to you, as an Eagles fan: Is Westbrook hurting the team? I know he's been a terrific back for you, but personally, I think he's past it and is stealing carries from young guys that are better than him (at this point in his career.)
How ‘bout dem Cowboys? Thought they “couldn’t win a game in December?” Thought they “couldn’t beat a good team in December?” Right now, the chokers appear to be the Eagles and Saints, with the Miniature Vikings waiting in the wings.

I tend to agree - I think Westbrook, having suffered two concussions this season, should retire out of self-protection - and I think as a result he is being very careful and self-protective when he runs, which as an NFL running back, you simply cannot do.
Don’t know much about their coach, but I watched his talk to the team in the locker room after the victory on Sunday.

There is no jail at Lincoln Financial Field. That was at the Vet, and its been gone 7 years.
The Eagles didn’t give up 6 yards per run. They gave up two long runs. Otherwise, the Dallas and Philadelphia running games were pretty similar. Perhaps if Philly had rushed more than 7 times, they might have broken a couple of long runs too.
That's kinda like Brennan saying the system worked last year except for one day...

Go Cowboys.... the only problem I have with the Cowboys is the fact that I have to see that alligator faced owner every 3 seconds during the broadcast... no other owner has that happen. I wish Jerry would just lock himself up in the owners box, bang cheerleaders and drink scotch.... and let a REAL football coach handle the talent. Like the Tuna or Jimmy Johnson.... Oh well...
no, the start of the futility was when Jerry Jones thought that he could coach the Cowboys after Jimmy Johnson won 2 Super Bowls. THAT'S when the Cowboys went to the crapper. We won one more Super Bowl with Jimmy Johnson's scheme and Barry Switzer stumbling around kissing Jerry's rear end... then pffffftt.... nada.
Until Jerry Jones decides he's NOT a coach, we will be stuck by lip smacking, rear kissing coaches that will let Jerry pretend he's "the coach". What a joke. I love the Cowboys but Jerry has just gone ape sh#t thinking he can coach. What's funny is how Parcels has turned Miami around in just a couple of years, while Jerry has run the team into the ground playing coach and GM.
Well Miami had the typical Parcells’ “Sophomore Slump” this season.
