Residents of an Eastside neighborhood may have found relief from a gang that laid siege to the area over the past few months, kicking and biting at people, jamming up traffic and chasing terrified residents into their homes.

It’s not unusual in Sonoma, Marin, Lake, & Mendocino Counties, here in California, to see roving gangs of 15-30 turkeys in residential neighborhoods. In Santa Rosa, up by Howarth Park, I counted nearly 40 of them one day tearing up someone’s front yard within footsteps of one of S.R.’s busiest streets....

Wild turkeys abound around my abode and yes, when they are outside, we stay inside! They perch on the rails of SUVs like they own them. One day I thought they were going to eat my little kitty.

Brine for 24 hours then place bird in the hot smoker (275-300 degrees) for 3 - 4 hours, depending on size. Use hickory or apple wood chips - your brain will think your taste buds have been on strike.
