Weight-loss supplement burns as many calories as 20-minute walk
Norman, Okla.—A new weight-loss supplement tested by the University of Oklahoma Health and Exercise Science Department has the potential to burn as many calories as a 20-minute walk, according to Joel T. Cramer, assistant professor of exercise physiology.
Cramer says General Nutrition Centers contracted with OU to test the weight-loss benefits of the nutritional supplement called the tri-pepper blend, which contains black pepper, caffeine and a concentrated form of capsaicin—the ingredient that makes red peppers hot. The OU study showed energy expenditures of three to six percent, results which are statistically significant enough to validate product weight-loss claims, Cramer said.

“Mr. Kramer, Rex Ryan is on line one for you!”
Maybe the Maple Syrup diet people were on to something, after all. One of its main components was cayenne pepper (capsaicin).
You’re in Texas and you don’t do chile?
How much energy does it take to burn holes in a stomach or intestines?
One wonders why there are so many short fat Mexicans if this were true.
Do you need to store frozen wet wipes in the freezer?
Real men have perforated colons.
Well, I've never seen anything frozen wet. Things start wet and become frozen. So, given that frozen wet wipes are not in fact wet, freezing is required to prevent the wet state from recurring.
My g-mother always told me that black pepper is harder on the stomach than red. Don’t know if this is true.
My wife did the maple syrup diet....she lost weight very quickly. Seemed to do her well.

This obviously works be getting your metabolism racing. My guess it isn’t the only thing that races. Your heart, organs, glands, and nerves are probably also put on overdrive.
I don’t see how this could be any safer than taking uppers to lose weight (which does work, but causes long term physical damaged when done for an exteneded period of time).
No other details necessary.
I'd rather walk for 20 minutes. :-)
Works every time it is tried.

I am sure the surgery to cut off numerous hemorrhoids would cause one to lose a significant amount of weight. Those products not only are hot going down, coming out cause some real problems and pain to the mucocutaneous junctions.
A 20 minute walk will burn about 100-150 calories (depending on your level of exertion). By itself, this is not a weight loss program.
However, by substituting walking with a pill, you miss out on the important cardiovascular activity and improvement in metabolism.
If you walk AND take the supplement, fine. But that makes the article’s title misleading; suggesting that you no longer need to exercise.
Feel the burn. Love me some chiles.
