Enjoy it, y’all, I hear that gelid change of seasons is truly something to behold.

For me, this word conjures up a summertime memory; those days when I would reach into the gelid waters of a horizontal soda vending machine.

Like a refrigerator laid on its back, the machine cooled its merchandise with a bone-chilling ferocity.

Obama pretends that he’s stolid
So cool that he’s practically gelid
While his suave affectation
Is befitting his station
His policies all are invalid

43 days until Spring. Until then, my life will consist of gelid squalor in the back yard,

Frigid days and gelid nights...
I can’t feel my own behind
Where’s the heat they assured me
well on it’s way...
would kill birds and bees?....
(da-da-da dum)

Apologies to the late great Freddy Fender

A day in February, probably gelid
On a truck a tree fell-ed.
Course the man did sue
What else could he do?
Just sit there looking pallid?

OK, so I can't actually work "gelid" into this, but here is the rant:

Have any of you noticed TheOne has been making commercials extolling the virtues of fatherhood?? OK, that's a good thing, but pay attention, because there's a nice official gubmint website referenced at the end of it...
http://www.fatherhood.gov

Surely I am not the only right-wing crazy who sees the extrmeme irony in this.
A government who has spent the last 45 years and gazillions of our dollars DESTROYING the role of the father - especially so in minority communities - by pushing a welfare system that actually discourages the presence of a father in the home has exactly WHAT moral authority to now tell us that maybe a 2-parent family just might be a good thing?

And if we have degenerated to such a pitiful condition that we need the Big Brother Nanny State to share such wisdom....well, good God!! Just beam me up NOW!

Looks like the atmosphere in sunny California is getting more gelid by the day:

(BTW, I’m from L.A. originally. The decline is very sad.)
