With NASA having been infested with leftists that support the myth of Global Warming and other such nonsense, I am not sure that we need a publicly funded space program any more.

Would going to the moon under his presidency violate some Islamic tenet?

Going to the moon implies a national program to launch rockets and satellites. Destruction of such a program in the US, would fulfill Iranian strategic objectives.

No moon trip, and no more space program because Obama does not want the USA to return to its former greatness. Also, he’s going to use the money to redistribute wealth from those who earned it through the sweat of their brow to those who vote democrat.

Well, you see, it’s because of Global Warming. If you take a temperature reading of the tail end of one of those rockets, I bet you’d find it is hotter than 30 or 40 Chevy trucks! Bad for the environment, (poor polar bears), etc. Dem logic is right on as usual. Other than that ... there NOT ONE REASON!

Space is one of the rare instances where it generally would take government and/or military action to plow the way for private companies to follow

Government funded trailblazers are pretty common really. Think Magellan, Columbus, Balboa, Louis and Clark. The goal was always to find trade routes to make money.

What Obama is doing here is like taking the knowledge Louis and Clark gained, and handing it off for someone else to benefit from it.

Can you supply a source or link to the Professor/Armstrong comment? I'm greatly interested - especially in light of some of Armstrong's other comments.

Aren’t some of the major NASA centers in Red States?

Hugely salient point! Great thinking!

Yes, I believe they are. This is another attack on American Exceptionalism. BHO wants a level playing field. The space program has too many positive outcomes for military defense and free enterprise. BHO’s first rule: diminish America and her patriots.

“I don’t think it’s any more complicated than him prioritizing social programs over space/military spending.”

I think you would be right if it were only a matter of money. However, NASA’s budget is tiny in comparison to other Federal Depratment budgets. Were that reversed, then I’d say you were correct.

This is IMHO a matter of psychology - destroying national pride and hope. It is easier to manipulate the hopeless and the downtrodden. On the world stage: to Hussein & Co., it is simpily unfair that the US should have a space program when thrird world and, especially, muslim nations do not.

It's more like there is a $1.6 trillion deficit and Obama values other programs more than NASA.

And if anybody really believed we would be back on the moon by 2020 then I've got some oceanfront property in Nevada I'd like to talk to you about.

“Yeah, going to the moon is like ONE percent of his slush fund. Can’t be wasting it on something useless. /S”

NASA’s $8 billion budget divided into Hussein’s current slush funds whhich are approaching the $trillion level is so small as not to even be concidered a percentage: or 0.008%.

Like freely spending a wallet filled with hundred dollar bills and pinching the penny in your pocket.

“”treaties are made to be broken” and follow that with the corollary, “just ask any American Indian.”

Not true. Most Indian treaties are upheld - at least in recent history.

US Supreme Court ruling in three Treaty Tribe cases: The Constitution grants rights only to Treaty Indians - all others are granted mere privileges which can be revoked at any given time.

cf: Washington vs. Fishing Vessel for one. The other two involve Treaty Tribes in the Upper Midwest and Florida.

Do a search - it is on multiple pages. I found it several times. However, there is no hard evidence that the exchange actually took place - maybe because it was so long ago that no one had the equipment handy to record it.

However, Armstrong has said some other things which were recorded and leave the door open for Something Going On we have not been told about.

Here's a fact: Look up any interview or read books about the guys who actually walked on the moon.

What you will find is that they have absolutely no trouble recounting things they did which were mission related. However, ask them what they saw or how it felt and...

The reactions vary - some will say a few curt words, others have reacted violently - sudden painful cramps, vomiting etc.

Anecdotally, a lunar mission debriefer was asked what she remembered from her NASA debriefing sessions and replied “I can't remember any of it.”

Here's another interesting fact from one of the many books on Wernher Von Braun:

Nearing death, Von Braun said “I have been informed there will be three great enemies: the Russians, Middle Eastern Islam, and finally aliens”.

I heard that, so I can't say which Von Braun book it was in.

I've heard those stories too where we were warned off by space aliens and I do think it is certainly possible but I do have to take things at face value. Still, I remember a friend and co-worker of mine a long time ago, he was with U.S. Army Intelligence in the Vietnam War and a chopper pilot too. He said much the same thing where we were warned off the Moon. If that is the case, I wonder who and why?

Von Braun's last words, interesting, he died in 1978, back then the Russians were our enemies, even now, there are times they are not so chummy. Middle East Islam, well you had Munich in 1972 and at that time, the Ayatolla took charge of Iran.

“He said much the same thing where we were warned off the Moon. If that is the case, I wonder who and why?”

To answer that question, here is a thought I haven't seen anywhere else - many people believe from seeing various photos that there are things on the moon. Let's say they are right for argument’s sake. Let's also say that there are unknown entities buzzing around the solar system.

The entities would be the who in your question. Who many not be the right question - there may be many more than the implied one entity, perhaps a consortium, a collection, an alliance, or just a lose aggregate of many entities from different places.

Now the why. Suppose many of these things on the moon are not benign. They are leftovers from some other time, some other race. Many are destroyed or in ruins, but some still continue to function.

These devices, for want of a better word, were built to do specific things using a science we have no understanding about. There original purposes were straight forward to their builders, but to us they appear incomprehensible in function and purpose.

Suppose a a guy wondered into the zone of a device and the device treated him as a resource to be harvested. The device would just be doing what it was made to do; the guy would be totally unaware of the danger and think the device was hostile.

It could be that those entities which supposedly openly displayed themselves were sending the message: we gather here in the open to honor you. And then later, in some fashion warned us not to be on the moon because they could not protect us at all times from our own folly and our ignorance of the devices.

Just a thought to answer your questions in a way that seems to fit the putative facts.

Obama is attempting to stifle the American mind. These space shots have created and will continue to create innovations that enrich our everyday life.

Let's put it in simple terms that Obama can understand.

Mr. President, remember Lt. Dan telling Forrest Gump about his new prosthetic legs made from titanium alloy. "It's what they use on the space shuttle." Well there are a whole bunch of other things that the space program has given us. Yes, Mr. President, Tang is one of them.

Where did we get this guy?

Hmmmm, I’ve heard stories where there were claims that Earth based telescopes as well as a space probes and astronauts have seen lights around some of the craters on the Moon and so on. I remember my grandmother telling me that there were rumors of aliens on the Moon, or they were there, and she claims those stories go as far back as the 1920’s. I’d like to see some proof though and I do say anything is possible but I’ll have to take things at face value. There are times I do wonder if mam has been to the Moon before or even gone further when you think about thing like Atlantis and so on.
