Legendary actor Clint Eastwood has revealed that he has no regrets about turning down the role of James Bond, as he believes the 007 agent should be played by a British actor.
Buzz up!Eastwood, 79, who had been approached by Bond bosses after Sean Connery quit the franchise, insists that he made the right decision, as he did not want the surperspy to be portrayed by an American.
I thought James Bond should be British. I am of British descent but by that same token, I thought that it should be more of the culture there and also, it was not my thing, the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

Kevin costner as robin Hood... They called it “Puss in Boots.”
And that frickin' Bryan Adams song.
Huge western fan here — but despite not having a huge love for spaghetti westerns, I must say ‘The Good, The Bad and the Ugly’ is my favorite western of all time. Eastwood was great but how fantastic was Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef?? I also thought “Duck You Sucker” aka “A Fistful of Dollars” was surprisingly good although I would have rather seen Eli Wallach in the role that Rod Steiger played. “For a Few Dollars More” was good too... maybe the spaghetti westerns that I like are all made by Sergio Leone come to think of it. “”
Same here and one of my favorites was Hombre with Richard Boone and Paul Newman—”Mister, you gotta lot of hard bark on you comin down here like this”
You going to see Robin Gladiator with Kurt Russell?
Apparently Richard Todd, who died recently, was also offered Bond in DR. NO but had a scheduling conflict. He would have made an interesting choice, Lawford not so much. But probably every Brit actor under 60 was considered for the role at one time or another.
I got everything all messed up. It’s the new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe.
You can watch that on youtube.
Red Grant.
It was included on a release of the MGM 1967 Casino Royale DVD.
got it....it is a good western. a little too ridiculous...almost 'James Bond ridiculous like the last 2 Daniel Craig, Bond's...where the impossible happens once a second.
my Favorite westerns are (in no particular order) True Grit, The Searchers, Unforgiven, Tombstone, Lonesome Dove(original mini series), Will Penny, The Wild Bunch, The Professionals and there are more but my brain is not 100% today.
How can you hate ‘The Good, The Bad and the Ugly’ and Once Upon a Time in the West’? The latter is a flat out masterpiece.
that is Captain Quint, Robert Shaw, with a blond bleach job.
Eastwood would have made a very interesting Leiter.
Good, Bad, Ugly was great, but “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” is my favorite.
Must have never watched “The Man who Shot Liberty Valance.”
Actually, he was great in “The Big Chill”.
I cant watch movies with dubbed in actors like Godzilla or Kung fu movies....I just laught at the dubbed actors.
and even without the dubbed actors...I do not consider those Spagetti Westerns more than average western movies...Good Bad and Ugly being one of the best....along with Once Upon a Time in the West, where Henry Fonda was possitively evil...they are OK...but just OK.
‘Unforgiven’ IMHO was the best western ever made.....
