Help! Firefox has fallen and it won't get up!

Posted on 02/19/2010 7:12:03 AM PST by Still Thinking

Something has happened to the StickyZoom on Firefox. It was working fine (and a cool feature too), but now it's picked a few sites that don't work. I read some of the Examiner.com sites and keep a group that I read regularly in a folder, which I open all at once. The feature seems to keep a common remembered zoom for the entire domain, because when it was working, if I changed in on one Examiner page, it would change the initial zooms on the others to match. Anyway, now those preload at one zoom, and the first time I look at the tab, they change zoom level. Very annoying. And there's a game that I play at Popcap that looks fine, then zooms to double when done loading. I haven't installed any new add-ons, but I do allow Firefox to push out updates.

Did he say why? Plus I don’t have anything from Google. Don’t like their politics nor do I trust their software.

he told me that it is common for firefox and IE to get virus’s and I suspect it is what you have.

Like I said this guy I know is a master with computers and he’s coming down form GA to my house this weekend, I could ask him then if you like .
It’s his job for the Govt to fix and keep the Govt’s computers up to date against all threats but to keep them working really good.
When he buys a computer he strips this thing and puts it back making it work much better and faster

Wow! I either have the worst timing in the world or I am so awesome I can fix computer problems by sheer force of will! Mozilla pushed out v3.6 this morning (was on 3.5.8 before) and everything works normally again. The Examiner group open at the previously selected size and make a zoom jump on viewing if and only if another examiner page has been resized since they were opened. The Popcap game works good too. Go figure.

I’ve had this problem for several weeks and on the morning I get annoyed enough to ask for help, it fixes itself. D’oh!

FF 3.5.8 had so many problems I stopped using Firefox. Chrome caused me even more problems, so I’m spinning my wheels on the lesser of 3 evils now; IE8. Might try out FF3.6 or move to Opera next.

I have been fighting with one of our computers for a week+!

I downloaded new version, Avast 5 that worked OK one day, then it went to sleep. It does not respond to uninstall or any other command, it just sit there and do nothing!!

Avast tell me download their utility for uninstalling to the desktop and then start computer in safe mode which is useless because the utility is not downloaded to the desktop, frustrating and it will not allow any other anti virus program to be installed because of compatibility problem!!!

I am using Firefox and wonder if that is the problem???

Can’t remember if the problem started with the rollout of 3.5.8 or not, but 3.6 fixed it. I use AVG and also found I was getting a lot of crashes when their SafeSearch add-on was turned on. Maybe that was 3.5.8 specific as well. I might try turning it back on and see if everyone plays nice now.

Off Topic....

I use these in FF and they work great.

Just left click and drag one of the boxes to your book mark tool bar. Comes in handy when viewing news pages with horrendous amounts of ads or those annoying flashing and talking ads. No spy/malware

Let us know, please. I’m still on FF 3.0 and will be until a later version is stable.

since I got rid of it I have had not one problem.

What happened to me was there was no address bar to type in anything and then it would not respond, it got worse and worse but over the period of a few days I thought had it working only for it to get much worse later.

good luck I know how frustrating it can be.

I'm going to Disneyland! BTW, don't let my cat see those, she'll probably want a pair. Set. Whatever.

I went there and some of their stuff looks cool, but the buttons won’t drag to my toolbar, they only want to drag to the tab bar. Wierd.

Not exactly sure what you mean as I don’t use this, but read this and see if it helps.
