Train of Storms Takes Aim at California First
Accuweather ^ | 2/19/2010 11:45 AM | Alex Sosnowski

A train of storms is on the tracks in the Pacific Ocean, and it appears people in California and the Southwest will be waiting a long time for the caboose to pass.

The onslaught will begin this weekend as two moderate storms roll ashore.

In a singular sense, the storms will not have the power and the outcome of the storms in January. However, enough rain will fall to lead to urban flooding problems, mudslides and perhaps a few washouts.

Enough snow is in store to again grace the Sierra and other ranges in the Southwest with heavy snow and fresh powder.

While it appears rain will fall in Tejon and Cajon passes with both storms this weekend, rain and fog will still slow travel over these arteries, and snow will fall in Donner Pass.

As a result of the two storms this weekend, expect flight delays, street flooding and disruptions to plans.

Since the storm train is likely to continue right through next week with a storm hitting every day-and-a-half or so, the cumulative effect could approach the problems experienced in the Golden State earlier in the winter.

My husband just told me that they are beginning to evacuate again. I will email my friend who lives up there above Foothill Blvd and see what’s what!

California Storminess Continues

2/20/2010 5:27 AM

A stormy pattern has settled back in over the West Coast. This means that storm after storm will beleaguer the region through much of the upcoming week.

The first system in the train of storms brought rain to central and Southern California on Friday afternoon and night. A bit of rain will dampen the Desert Southwest today as the storm plows across the Four Corners region piling snow in the Rockies and central High Plains as it goes.

Another round of wet weather and mountain snow will target the Golden State on Sunday. This system will bring steady rain over the majority of the state by Sunday night.

The storms will continue crashing ashore every day and a half or so through the end of next week.

With the persistent bouts of rain taking aim at the area, flooding could become a problem in urban areas. Mudslides will also pose a threat in recent wildfire burn areas.

Thansk for the Ping, Ernest. Today it's a little chilly here but the skies are blue and the clouds are beautiful.

If you like giant towering thunderheads , there is no place better than the High Plains...they go up forever...

Of course it can get nasty directly under them.

The weather out here is so different!
