Growing Environmental Concerns on U.S. Shale Oil and Gas Projects

Texas became the latest state to launch an environmental watchdog for energy development as a nonprofit group set its sights on the Barnett Shale drilling in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The Texas campaign of the Oil and Gas Accountability Project, after similar campaigns in New Mexico and Colorado, is part of a growing concern about the environmental impact of techniques like hydraulic fracturing that are creating an energy boom as the U.S. exploits vast deposits of shale oil and gas.

The Wall Street Journal on Friday profiled the Bakken Shale development in North Dakota, which has catapulted that state into fourth place among oil producers, after Texas, Alaska and California – ahead of traditional leaders like Oklahoma and Louisiana.

But environmental concerns about shale development were the focus of a congressional querie earlier this month as Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Edward Markey (D-Mass.) sent letters to several companies conducting hydraulic fracturing, which pumps liquid under high pressure to crack shale formations and free natural gas deposits. Oil and gas are what makes capitalism go. That’s why the “green” communists had to do whatever they could to make them unavailable or very expensive to us.

Green is a primary color of the Muslems. It looks like they may be funding the anti oil groups to col laps our economy so they can come in and take over and put us back to their 4th century culture.

8 months and these two creeps will be without power. Why would a jerk from CA and a jerk from MA decide to stick their noses into what TX is doing.

I recall reading that if shale oil deposits in the US turned out to be as plentiful as it seems that we’d have enough oil for the next few hundred years. Of course the enviro-nazis want to stop it. Oil and fuel are what allows for freedom and mobility. How can they ever take complete control if we have a virtually unlimited supply?

If they can stop drilling in ANWR - as deserted a place as there is on earth - because a moose might be displaced I am sure they will find a way to stop this too.

Statis jerks, each and every one of em.

The green wackos are trying to put a stop to any meaningful energy exploration inside or near our borders. These people are, quite simply, enemies of the U.S.

Unless someone is getting their drinking water 10 to 13 thousand feet in the ground, fracing is not going to effect anything, I believe these two clowns would rather see us import NG and other liquids instead of producing our own.

Cheap, plentiful energy would mess up the Lefts' plans to starve us all.

They have to make up lies about this, fast, or they're done for.
