TexasCowboy 5th Annual Memorial Shoot
03-01-10 | TheMom

Posted on 03/01/2010 5:53:29 AM PST by TheMom

It is time again to start making plans to attend the Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. Come join us to celebrate the memory this fine Texas gentlemen.

Photobucket

The 5th Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot will be held June 12, 2010, starting at 10:00 a.m. Our range choice this year is Dietz Gun Range, 421 Range Road, New Braunfels. The cost per person will be $10.00 The Dietz Range is where TexasCowboy hosted one of his shoots in 2003.

This year the after party for the shoot will be held at the range. They have a large canopy with picnic benches underneath for us to hang out. The range does not have any items to cook food with, so we are asking that those who are able, to bring along a cooker. Everyone else please bring a side dish or appetizer. Adult beverages are allowed under the canopy (this does not need to be said but I am going to say in anyway – they are not to be opened until all weapons have been cased).

cpdiii has agreed to be our host this year. He will bring, and cook, steaks and shrimp Creole for everyone. I am really looking forward to eating the Creole!

At this time no plans have been made for the Friday evening dinner or Saturday morning breakfast get together. Allegra & I have volunteered to make the sacrifice of a road trip to check out places to eat. One line of thought for dinner is to eat at a German restaurant.

Stay tuned for more info . . .

I’ll bet New Braunfels is beautiful this weekend.

I'll bet it was. Yesterday was a beautiful day in downtown Jones Creek, Texas.

Hope the Easter Beer Bunny is kind to ya

The Beer Bunny was busy, but sent a helper bunny. She did a decent job hiding the beer in the fridge. ;-)

Allegra & I are going to check out Friesenhaus (the owners immigrated here from Germany in 2004).

Bavarian Village was not listed in the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce website.

Many years ago I ate at Oma’s Haus and it was icky ~ might have gotten better, but don’t want to risk the chance.

Thanks for the restaurant input. Sorry you won’t be able to make the shoot.

The little piglet weighs 18 lbs.

Cute, sweet, chubby baby with knees and arms you just want to nibble on. He's a cheerful little soul.

The Easter Bunny has also started hiding kids' shoes. The kids seem to enjoy running around finding them.

Iraq again, or "the other place".

Although I had a couple of offers for "the other place," I am going back to "home-away-from-home" Baghdad. :)

Where is Jones Creek?

Down by Freeport. The Mom's family had a get-together at a small community hall there that had lush, green grounds and big trees. It was so pretty.

Happy Easter to you and everyone!

Well, plenty of Vehicle and Man(and woman) Borne IEDs going off there too. Again, don't forget your vest and always use the trauma plates.

Too bad they won't let you bring your own pistol rather than making you use the wimpy 9mm. I have a nice S&W in .45 Colt, short barrel, that might suit you, althoguh you might want different grips. Also a Dan Wesson in .357, but it's got a long barrel and is set up as a target pistol. Well actually I only have temp custody of them, they belong to a freind of my wife, who wants me to sell them for her. Shot the .357 on Friday. Sweet. Only double action revolver I could ever hit anything with in double action mode. Very smooth.

Little Wart still looks like Eaker, if Eaker had that much hair, and maybe had a few beers in him. :)

The little piglet weighs 18 lbs.

Gosh, that's nearly as much as my 2 1/2 y/o grandaughter, who is about 20 1/2 lbs. Her identical twin sister weighs 3+ pounds more than she does, and is short but solid. Little Ms. Kathryn doesn't feel so solid but is pretty much just as active. Likes to stand on her head, and loves to dance. Will even turn on the music(MP3 player) herself, reaching it on the desk by climbing on her mother's old toy chest (a wooden military issue locker from the '70s)

Ms. Elizabeth just goes through things, not around. Sometimes she does go over, but that's because they both love to climb. Folded chairs, ice chests, tables, chairs, and of course drawers.

Had Ms. E at our Killeen house overnight week before last. Her first night away from sister. Didn't phase her, but apparently Ms. K wandered the house looking for her all the next morning. Ms. E didn't even fuss except when it was time for bed, and even then when she figured out that also meant "book time" she was OK with that. Took it much better than big sis Ms. V did her first time away from home. The "ice chest" climb came that day, when she moved it over to the kitchen counter so she could grab a handful of..... butter.

This is from February, their dad's birthday at the Salt Lick, the Round Rock location by Dell Diamond.

They are sort of sober sides though. I think that's Ms. K on the left and Ms. E on the right. But, well, Grandpa still has a hard time keeping them straight, especially in pictures.

I haven't made it to one yet, but I think I met you at a restaurant in Austin(Iron Cactus or something like that) several years back.

My wife got her CHL this year, so we will have to make one of these.

Ping us with your plans for checking it out beforehand. It’s about a 50 mile trip, but its’ a possibility that we might be able to make it part of another trip to San Antonio.

You do know I've been over there for quite a while, right? ;-)

Your twin grandbabies are adorable! How do they get along with Miss V.?
