Former Democratic Sen. John Edwards is facing “imminent” indictment relating to his use of campaign funds to cover up an extramarital affair during his 2008 presidential run, according to The National Enquirer. A grand jury has been investigating the North Carolinian's use of the funds since April, and the Enquirer quotes a friend of Edwards saying that, although the former candidate does not believe he did anything wrong, he is “terrified” that he will be made an example of in this case. And in a soap opera twist, Elizabeth Edwards may in fact testify against her estranged husband, The Hill reported. The report is being taken seriously because the tabloid has led the reporting of Edwards' affair with filmmaker Rielle Hunter, and its pursuit of the story has earned it an unexpected Pulitzer Prize nomination.

A wife can’t be forced to testify against her husband, but if she WANTS to -— get the heck out of her way!!!

I’m sure he didn’t do anything wrong (/s) but let’s go ahead and make an example of him anyhow. There aren’t many people that would deserve it more than him.

I am not all that sure John is completely responsible for his alleged actions here. I think the stress of being the lone spokesman for the poor, especially poor hair stylists, in America and the immediate threat of global warming affected his ability to make good decisions.

If you knew for sure, because the science is settled, that soon your 30,000 sq foot mansion in South Carolina was going to be underwater after going to all the trouble to channel dead babies and destroy doctors lives just to pay for it, well... you would have a lot on your mind too.

And the same folks who are arranging the Silky Pony’s indictment, after trial and sentencing, will be sure to arrange that Silky’s cellmate in the Atlanta branch of Club Fed will be a lifer dude named Bruno. Bruno bench presses 450 pounds and has lots of tattoos. No wonder Silky Pony he be terrified. Silky Pony, you’re gonna rue the day, etc., etc.

I’m sure Mrs. Edwards is loving this. It’s way, way better than beating him with a nine iron!

We also have to keep in mind that his daddy was a poor mill worker.

John Edwards (allegedly) used campaign funds to cover up his affair?

Good grief. The man has a net worth of $30 million bucks. He could misplace a couple hundred thousand and not even miss it.

Seriously, why couledn't he just pay off his mistress, fork over whatever "hush money" was needed or what have you, with his own cash? Nothing illegal about that; immoral, certainly, but it doesn't get you sent to prison, fer-cryin-out-loud.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Arrogant, nuts, and stupid.
