Similarly, we believe Sarah Palin is making perhaps the smartest, most brilliant, tactical move of 21st Century politics in pursuing the travelogue/adventure/exploration of Alaska series with Mark Burnet. Here’s why:

We know Sarah Palin is running for President in 2012. We know this show is part of her strategy for winning.

We think it is a brilliant tactical move.

“I just love people who make decisions without even knowing half the facts (sort of like the lamestream media).”

I recall an instance a few weeks ago when a car crashed the gates of of an air base in Arizona. The immediate reaction was that it was a terrorist attack, even thought it was a stolen car. I heard a news report yesterday that is was a stolen car and the guy was trying to get away when he made a wrong turn.

This is a private site and the owners and moderators want this site to have a certain theme and be about certain values- traditional Conservative values.
This is not a free for all bar, this is a Conservative site discussing Conservative values.

Just like in your private home, you can choose what values come in through the TV, books, movies, visitors, etc.

Frankly, this site gives a lot more leeway on discourse than on many other sites I’ve seen. When people are zotted, unless it is way over the top crap like racist or liberal trolls, it is usually because of HOW they act, not on WHAT position they are pushing.

Too bad your associates are abandoning Sarah. I presume then know:

A) She supported McCain (as a result of an agreement made long ago)

B) She tried to be a comedienne on Jay Leno (to the extent of a lighthearted 2-minute bit which actually WAS funny)

C) She’s doing reality TV (They might want to wait and see what the series really is before assuming it’s going to be something like “The Kardashians in Alaska.”)

If they’re abandoning her over those three issues, their support for her was never that deep anyway.

the “reality show” bit.

The reality show spin was debunked early on. This was the label that MSNBC put on it to trash Palin. When some industry magazines started releasing details of what was being pitched, it came out more like a Documentary like Planet Earth.

She tried to be a comedienne on Jay Leno

Not only was she funny (no teleprompters there), did you see Leno's ratings for that show? Through the roof.

S blog started that Sarah was doing a “Reality Show” with David Burnett and it spread like wild fire all over the net and some here on FR believed it or were Sarah haters that jumped on it, trashing her.....yet the NYMag that night when the news came out said it wasn’t a “reality show” but that Sarah was pushing for a documentary about Alaska history, culture and natural resources....well the next morning Fox News has to correct the story but many like ABC and others still are pushing that Sarah wants to do a “Reality Show”.....It can not be further form the truth.

(A) She supported McCain..

because it was the loyal and right thing to do instead of throwing him under the bus like Freepers are always claiming Obama does.
(B) She tried to be a comedienne on Jay Leno.

What a great way to get the public reunited with her in a comfortable setting. She is already funny with a great sense of humor. I know I've seen her speak in public without a teleprompter.

(C) She's doing a reality show.
About Alaska which gives her a chance to let the world know where she comes from, what she loves and does for fun. She'll show the greatness of Alaska and let Americans know that “Yes that you can actually see Russia from her house I think it'll be a great tourist draw also.

I don't care if she runs or not but she has given me hope that there are still people out there that actually care about this country and keeping it's citizens free.
Without asking for something in return.

.if you know people who supported Palin and are abandoning her because of an appearance on Leno or a “reality show” they NEVER did or would support her
- - - - - -
This is true. There are some conservatives that believe that conservatism is a completely intellectual activity and only intellectuals could possibly understand it. These are the elite George Will Republicans. They may eventually support Sarah if the intelligensia tell them that moose hunting is almost as enjoyable an activity as playing polo.

Most of the people claiming to be turned off by Sarah’s efforts to improve her image were either never supporters or are looking for an excuse to conform their views to those the media tell them are acceptable.

First she has her own TV show, then the next thing you'll know, she'll appear in Cigarette commercials..

wait.. oops, that was this guy...

Seems like she is in good company to me.

But I make the observation that I know several people who used to like Sarah but have now abandoned her because:

A) She supported McCain

B) She tried to be a comedienne on Jay Leno

C) She's doing reality TV

If several people you know have abandoned Sarah for those reasons, they'll never find somebody to support.

I don't really care if she runs in 2012 or not because she is keeping the left in a tizzy right now. She is deflecting the wrath of the media from other potential Conservative candidates. The media and the Democrats will do whatever they can to destroy the reputation of whoever they think the Republican front runner is. All of the breathless coverage over inconsequential nonsense like ink on her hand convinces me that Sarah Palin is the perceived front runner by the media. They are scared to death of her.

It is unfortunate that she continues to support McCain but politics unfortunately is a game of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. It is doubtful whether this will change anytime soon.

Not only was she funny (no teleprompters there), did you see Leno's ratings for that show? Through the roof.

One FReeper noted the next morning a huge number of "tweets" stating Sarah had won them over. As you alluded, she did that bit totally from memory. Boy Zero's teleprompter-less stutters and stammers would've drawn laughter too, but... the crowd wouldn't be laughing WITH him... if ya knowwhutimean.

Nobody likes John McCain, but please be reasonable.

She could not refuse to endorse him. Wouldn’t have been prudent.

Fair weather supporters.

Supporters who only support when they (think) that they fully understand what she’s doing and fully agree.

In other words, they support her as long as she does what they want her to do and that is it.

Oh well.
