BTW, I used to be an EMT and had to deal with worse than lactation in the face.

Then why are HIV-positive mothers discouraged from breast-feeding their infants?

Thats what is taught in all the HIV lectures for health care professionals. However before the virus goes semi dormant, that is to say a few weeks to two months after initial infection, the HIV virus is rampant throughout an infectees system. It is possible during this stage of HIV infection to transmit through casual contact such as kissing, or casual contact with other bodily fluids. Many health care professionals have contracted AIDS, because they did not know this fact.
