After all of Hollywood's Iraq movies have flopped (even the Oscar-garlanded "The Hurt Locker" earned only $15 million at the box office), one studio thinks it has the following secret to success: The previous films didn't insult the United States enough.

"Green Zone," opening Friday, is a $100 million slime job that conjures up a fantastically distorted leftist version of the war and wraps it around a frantic but preposterous action picture. (Spoilers about the plot follow.)

Matt Damon plays Miller, an Army "chief" (chief warrant officer) assigned to searching for weapons of mass destruction in Baghdad in the opening days of the war in 2003.

I wonder if Matt Damon will ever make a patriotic film? he tries to be a modern day anti-John Wayne.

Wouldnt it be great if Hollyweird could actually find a veteran and offer him a job as an actor in a patriotic film?

You must be thinking of Audie Murphy.

He was a terrible actor but his war record made him extremely popular nonetheless.

What do you expect?? He grew up as a neighbor to the communist “historian” Howard Zinn, has publicly stated that Zinn’s trashy propaganda book is all you need to know about the “real” American history, and his mother was purportedly one of the leading antiwar activists in Cambridge MA.

thanks for the heads up,

hey Hollywood, nothing like a good anti-US military film, when our VOLUNTEER military is fighting and dying in war

Americans have to make themselves into cultural dissidents. If it is a film/book/magazine/cd/video, etc. which makes America or Americans out to be anything so patently and mindlessly negative, boycott it.

In the end WE are the real PUBLIC in this country and our DOLLARS drive the entertainment industry. Maybe they will like struggling for a return on their investment, but I don't think so.

Nobody denies that Iraq did not comply with the requirements to verifiably eliminate WMD in the cease fire agreement that ended the first Gulf War. This was the basis for UNSC 1441, which approved military action to enforce these requirements.

Whether or not WMDs existed is not the point. The point is that the Hussein regime was not complying with the requirements of the cease fire.

I am thinking of many actos who were real men. Of Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, Clark Gable, many men who served in the military who were actors.

Many were heroes, medal winners in real life not play actors who wouldnt know right face from To the Rear March.
I cannot think of an actor today that has served his country.

"...Whether or not WMDs existed is not the point..."

I thought we found about 200 tons of yellowcake uranium in Iraq, and towards the end of Dubya's administration it was transported quietly to Canada. I know the major media outlets downplayed it, but I'm pretty sure that happened.

Murphy seemed like a nice guy, too. I would have loved to sit down and drink a beer with him.

I like Matt Damon in some movies and he is attractive but I know he is a lib and questionable patriot. I won’t see this movie.

.
No, Damon is not a “questionable patriot”.

He is a traitorous twink.

Just my opinion of course.
