Interviewed on ABC's "Good Morning America," press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about the assertions Rep. Eric Massa made Sunday in a radio address in his home district in western New York.

Gibbs said, "I think this whole story is ridiculous. I think the latest excuse is silly and ridiculous." He accused Massa of continually changing the reasons for leaving Congress. Massa, a Democrat whose resignation took effect Monday, is facing a harassment complaint from a male staffer.

When the White House can't come up with anything else, Gibbs always throws out "silly" or "ridiculous". Funny, because that is how he should be describing himself. It would certainly be appropriate.

Gibbs is the worst WH spokesperson ever. His snarky attitude and ums and ahs are so annoying.

The fact that Massa resigned is a good indication that he is hiding something. The timing on this is pretty suspect, though.

Knowing what we know about Twinkletoes, I find Massa’s story about the shower assault entirely consistent with the Little Ballerina’s past behavior.

Living as I do in the kingdom of Richie Daley II and knowing how the machine works here, I find the congressman’s charges completely believable.

It is utterly unbelievable the things that regularly take place here in Richie’s paradise, and that includes the whole state, and it is simply considered business as usual.

What is the White House doing commenting on a strictly Congressional matter? Haven’t they heard of separation of powers? I think Gibbs and Rahm think separation of powers means Democrat and Republican will stay separated with Dems making all the decisions as a block - White House and Congress closely coordinating to run the country like they run Chicago.

The fact that Massa resigned is a good indication that he is hiding something.

Krauthammer said last night that Massa's resignation at this moment would result in the cessation of any ethics investigation into his behavior and that is the probable cause for his resignation.

I tend to agree with that.

Notice there was no denial. Simply a ‘silly’ and ‘ridiculous’ defense. Clearly others heard the argument and nutso dared not deny his rant against Massa.

The timing on this is pretty suspect, though.

You mean like the Chicago-Way hit on NY Governor Patterson after Obama told him to step aside and he refused?

They would have been wise to just let him resign with his original reason.. his cancer.

The official Democrat attack being spoken by all the White House supporters is that Massa is crazy and these charges are ridiculous.

I don't think that defense is going to work on this one as others might speak out soon.

The thing I fear now is that Massa is the Martha Mitchell of our time. I remember how we were all told by the media, the White House, everyone is Washington really, that she was just a crazy insane old woman who was off her meds and we all believed it. Well she wasn’t and it really gets me wondering if the rush to trash Massa by everyone (media, even FOX), and including the White House is a parallel.
