I had an encounter with a huge owl very late at night while driving home. He was on the road and took off just as I got to him. The wingspan completely covered my windshield for a minute or so, and then he rolled over the top of the car and dropped behind me.
I considered getting out to see if he was injured, but then thought maybe not. He was gone the next morning.
I definitely got the one I hit.
