Maybe if we dig a little deeper, you might find tht these “two ladies” were in on it, hoping for the big “cash in”.. just sayin....
A hate crime is expanded to include any time one of the "entitled" gets his feelings hurt.
You’d think he had said the n-word or something. “all blacks leave the store?” Sure, it’s annoying, but on the scale of racist statements, that has to be pretty darn low on the list.
Worse, the police, instead of warning them about abusing the 911 system for non-emergency calls, is actually investigating the “hate crime”, and takes this seriously.
It is hard to believe that there is a criminal law forbidding a customer from picking up a phone in the Walmart and making a stupid joke over the intercom. I suppose if he had said “there’s a fire, get out now” that would be a crime.
Or how to hit the button with “page” written under it on the phone.
They said the guy sounded like he was giving away money — I thought that was black code for “it has to be a white guy”.
Was that really a description of how his voice sounded, or is that just what the black people thought about when they heard the announcement -- "we'll win a million bucks in a lawsuit if we play this right".
"I need a bambulance!"

.
I didn’t know there was a following for walmart intercom pranking. I wonder if this one will show up on youTube. Probably not if they are threatening a hate crime prosecution, although watching someone make the announcement, and a film of all the outraged customers, would be hilarious. I’d probably watch a TV show that was just about outraging people and watching them go ballistic.
These laws effectively create an aristocracy, and we peasants better watch our language in their presence.
Plus ça change, and all that.
I was in Okinawa twice—Camp Butler. At that time a Texan was in the White House and Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix were alive.
I didn’t have a point.
I doubt that.
It’s definitely a security issue for Wal-Mart that their public address system is not properly secured. Obviously the stupid comments broadcast don’t express the policy of the company.
I think Reap’s point was, there’d no rush for the exit because nobody fitting that description would happen to be in the store at the time.
How would the black people feel?
My point was - we aren’t that thin-skinned. We wouldn’t rush to find out who said it and why they said it. And we wouldn’t call 911 to report that they said it.
Always call 911 when you hear something you don’t like.
