I just went to buy The Blind Side at my local Target Store and it is sold out!

Posted on 03/25/2010 9:58:01 AM PDT by soccermom

OK, I don't buy a TON of DVDs when they are released, but I have bought my share of them. I usually buy them the week they are released because they're usually on sale. I've bought lots of the highly-anticipated films like The Dark Knight, Harry Potter etc and I have NEVER seen a DVD sold out. If this is an indication of the popularity of The Blind Side, I think that is pretty cool and bodes well for future movies.......if Hollywood actually cares about what people want to see.

I dunno, I can’t bring myself to support a ‘star’ who recently said she would ‘beat the shit’ out of Meryl Streep on live t.v., and who kissed another female on the lips....nah, I’ll use my money for support of other ‘good’ deeds.

I went and bought our copy the other night in Colorado Springs, in the middle of a nasty snowstorm. Three other people were buying it at the same time. They had sold out of the first batch of BlueRays, had to get more from the back room for one guy.

You can get anything from Amazon. I couldn’t live without it.

Your loss.

I’m not “supporting” a “star,” I’m watching a good movie about good (but flawed) people doing the right thing for the right reasons. Hollywood doesn’t make many of those movies these days, in case you haven’t noticed. When one comes along, my way of telling Hollywood to make more is to see the film and buy it.

Sure, you can do other things with your money. But if you avoid seeing a great film like this just for what some actress does in her spare time, you’re just missing out on good entertainment.

"‘beat the shit’ out of Meryl Streep"

I thought she said that about Sarah Palin. I would have few problems with the former. If it's the latter, I hope Sandra has her dental insurance paid up. A grizzly bear hunting mother of five is no one you would want to F with.

It would be helpful to those out there who don’t pay any attention to Hollywood’s output what “Blind Side” is and why we could be affected by it politically. That’s my only interest, at least.

Yeah, I asked the salesman to check out availability at another Target store for me. (I’m sure I could probably find it elsewhere, but have a coupon for Target.) He said the other store close to me was also sold out of the Blue Ray version, but did have the other ones.

She said it—jokingly—about Streep. The context was that Bullock was going to beat Streep for the Best Actress Oscar.

I'm not sure if you're offering that as a suggestion for other people, or if you genuinely don't know. I'm going to assume you don't know: The Blind Side is based on a true story about a conservative, Christian family in Tennessee that took in a homeless young man and made him part of their family. He (Michael Oher) went on to become a professional football player --- I think with the Ravens, but I could be wrong. Anyway, what I found refreshing about the movie is that, even though it took some dramatic license, it didn't downplay the role that Christianity and conservatism played in this family's life. Apparently many studios in Hollywood shied away from the movie as "too religious", but it finally got the backing of a wealthy man (CEO of Fed EX?) who was a Bush supporter. The movie has been a box office hit.

Exactly.. Palin can stalk and shoot and field dress a Moose and carry 100lb(sections) or quarters back to the truck..

Not to speak of the fact she was point guard on the basketball team.. and could give and take elbows with the best of them.. after nursing back to health a son on the hockey team..

Her husband is no slouch either.. just competing in the "Iron Dog" race is a trial of courage.. and endurance.. The Palins are IRON PEOPLE... Their Commercial fishing business.. alone is very hard work.. for "the season".. hard 12 to 16 hour days that would try the strength of a twenty year old.. And Sara and Todd are in their fortys..

That's when "shes" not running for Mayor, the City Council or the Governor.. while doing all these things and more..

The girl would indeed make a very good PRESIDENT... She makes Teddy Rooseveldt look like a "well you know"... LoL...
