When the Germans give up on AGW you really do know it's all over…
Telegraph UK ^ | April 1st, 2010 | James Delingpole

No people on earth are more righteously Green than the Germans. They built the foundations and set the tone of the modern Green movement in, ahem, the 1930s. They invented the phrase Atomkraft Nein Danke. They were the first country to allow nasty, dangerous Sixties eco-radicals to reinvent themselves as respectable politicians. They were the first place to buy, wholesale, into the solar power con, which is why so many of their rooves – especially on churches – shimmer and glow like reflective-coated crusties at a mid-Nineties rave, while the German taxpayer is ruing the day his government ever chose to subsidise (Achtung Herr Cameron!) this fantastically pointless scheme… (Hat tip: Robert Groezinger, et al)

So when the Germans say “Auf Wiedersehn AGW” it really is time for the rest of the world to sit up and take notice. And that’s exactly what they just have said. See for yourself in this tear-inducing glorious feature in one of their leading newspapers.

Der Spiegel has done a number on AGW -one of the best and most comprehensive I’ve read in any newspaper anywhere – and it could hardly be more damning.

Fox Business Host Stuart Varney reports-- that Obama plans to sign an executive order by next week to unilaterally impose new laws mandating CO2 restrictions since he can’t get the laws passed through congress.

Reality doesn’t matter. The crowned heads in America will plunge ahead with their cap and trade schemes, carbon taxes, etc.

from article;

Der Spiegel would never have got away with this article four years ago.

But then, in 2006, according to a poll, 62 per cent of Germans surveyed answered “Yes” to the question “Are you personally afraid of climate change.”

In 2010 that figure has dropped to 42 per cent, which for those of you who haven’t done the math means that the majority of Germans are now not personally afraid of climate change.

No, its not over. Between Lindsey Grahamcracker and his band of Congressional idiots, the Obama Gangland bunch, and the EPA its far from over. They don’t give a damn about the science or about AGW for that matter, they have an entirely different agenda.

this is sooo true, germany’s been insane about this stuff way longer than anywhere else. I recall being yelled at in 1989 for sitting outside a shop waiting for my husband to purchase a newspaper, because we had left the car running. Mind you this was winter!!!

Germans pride themselves on being logical and scientific - a part of me thinks it’s funny they were pranked so easily...

Mr. Delingpole is in the running to be England’s Mark Steyn.

"... Critics reproach Jones for not taking one factor, in particular, sufficiently into account: the growth of urban areas. Stations that used to be rural are now in cities. And because it is always warmer in cities than outside, the temperatures measured at these stations are bound to rise."

This is certainly true in my case.

We had an official US government weather center planted in a nearby field not too far away from our semi-rural home. It looks like a small cinder block concrete bunker surrounded by a high chain link fence topped with razor wire and signs reading 'US GOVERNMENT PROPERTY -- RESTRICTED AREA' and so forth, and you could see the antennae and the little wind gauge spinner going round and round.

I used to connect directly to it using the WeatherBug gadget in my Windows Sidebar. I'd search for it by ZIP code, find it 0.1 miles away, and get instant weather data that was better than looking out my own window. It was great.

One day it went offline and never returned. One day I drove over to the field to see if there was anything visibly wrong with the data collecting station. It's still there, but no longer sending any data. Now the nearest US Government weather station that WeatherBug can find is the one at the international airport 10 miles up the road in the middle of the city. Now my local weather readings are always 5 degrees higher and it's snowing like nuts outside my window in the winter when the airport weather station is reporting 'Rain Showers with possible Snowstorms'. I'll be shoveling a foot of fresh snow off my driveway right about the time the airport weather station is predicting 'Snow Expected Later In Evening'.

A few months go by and I read in the local paper how the US Government shut down the little weather station by my house because they reasoned that it was too often getting entirely coated with wet snow throughout the winter.

What in hell is AGW —term not defined; that’s extremely irresponsible.

“Germans pride themselves on being logical and scientific - a part of me thinks it’s funny they were pranked so easily...”

Which make one think that liberalism has to be some sort of mental illness which renders one incapable of reasonable thought. I’m not being sarcastic here. I don’t see any other explanation for how seemingly smart people can’t see truth when it’s right in front of their face. Even worse news is only a very small fraction of liberals ever see the light of day. In most cases this illness is terminal and that’s freighting.

I love this. We lived in Deutschland from 92-95. It is so typische Deutsch for Germans to yell at one another for perceived transgressions of any type. We had it happen to us a couple of times because we were Auslanders and didn't quite yet get local custom. That's when I learned and began to use the phrase "typische Deutsch." If you ever want to piss off a Kraut, lay that on them at an opportune moment!

The Germans convinced themselves it was the Jew’s fault they were in the pickle they were in, and without really questioning a bit of it exterminated 6M people.

Stalin only killed 20M of his own countrypeople, and figured they were out to get them, so at least there was SOME sort of reason (yes, sarcasm).

You’ve got the ‘free love’ set that convinced two, maybe three generations of women that the ability to give life into the world is a liability, and that the ONLY option they have is abortion.

Our Supreme Court squinted very hard and found a RIGHT for women to kill their own children written into the Constitution.

Talk about gullible? I give you the American Female, followed hotly behind them by the American Taxpayer.
