Firefox/Chrome Users: Get FR Tree View for Nested Threads on FR!
cynwoody ^

Posted on 04/09/2010 7:15:31 AM PDT by Dan Nunn

Some of you may know about this gem, but I want to make sure every Firefox and Chrome user knows about the beauty of FR Tree View.

I'm not taking credit for it, I don't know which FReeper wrote the software. But it's amazing! It makes following long, nested threads much easier. See a screen shot here:

The Poster Report will not work for me.

It doesn't work in my Chrome either. Works on Firefox. But to me, the tree view is the most important part :)

In which folder within Firefox should the script reside?

On my computer, the script is located in the following folder:

C:\Users\Dan\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\y13lb10n.default\gm_scripts\fr_tree_viewer

That's Win7 (and probably Vista configuration). On XP, it might be in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\ etc....

I believe that you do need to restart Firefox,...I just did that after Installing Grease monkey and the script.

Dan I didn't see anything after installing the script...just did a complete System Restart...leaving Firefox up and when the System came up it all happened....

I am running Linux mint which is build on Ubuntu...

Looking good.....

I restarted chrome and it's still not working. Not sure why.

I'd love to try running linux, just to chicken to try it on my only computer. If we ever get another computer, I'll try it out on the old one. I use to play around with one of windows alternatives several years ago. It was freeware, can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Yup. Fedora FC12-32 and FC12-64 both work fine.

The Linux Distro to look at is Mint....when you try any.....

It is very well done.

You can try it with out installing it on your hard Disk....

Multiple window managers ,...KDE, Gnome, XFCE, LDE ....32 bit or 64 bit versions.

Our latest release is Linux Mint 8, codename "Helena".

MSLady,

You can always just download a 'live' CD. Most distributions have them available.  You basically boot your computer off the CD/DVD and can try it out. If you find you don't like it, you can just pop out the disk, reboot, and *poof*, you're right back to your old PC.

Poster view seems to need to be the first thing you click on the thread.,...for me it shows up as an un-named new thread....your FR preferences or Firefox settings may need to be adjusted....

Once you do the treeview then it doesn't seem to do anything....probably the way the script runs...

Treeview also rearranges the sequencing of the replies...
