As the owner of a Boxer I don’t agree with classifying it as a mastiff-type. Too small and most certainly not of a watch dog mindset....well at least mine isn’t

Just because pit bull attack stories are the only ones you post, doesn’t mean that they are ones that happen...Geez, get over yourself.

Thank you it took until your post #18 before any of the lovers expressed sympathy for the child and her family...Typical for pitt threads defenders when the story is about pitts...May the family find peace and God Bless that child...Her death was a horrifying one.

Boxers can get big, but they don’t typically have the personality or temperment to hurt children. They are more known for being “babysitters.” With that said, dogs and children should always be well supervised. ;)

According to
this site, boxers are molossers, and therefore could be loosely grouped with mastiffs; the article only says mastiff-type.

The English Mastiff and the the Boxer are both recognized distinct breeds in the United Kingdom. If the dog had been a Boxer the Telegraph would have said that.
This picture in the Sky News article, "One-Year-Old Dies In 'Appalling' Dog Attack ", clearly shows the dog was not a Boxer. Your link also indicates that the Boxer is as gentle as a lamb with children.

I never said the dog that attacked was a boxer, just that boxers are indeed mastiff-types.
I have a fondness for the breed, myself.

I have a fondness for the breed, myself. Didn't it disturb you that on a dog mauling article, the first picture on post number one was a Boxer? The picture of the actual dog that killed the girl looks like a Pit-bull Terrier, illegal in the UK. Judging by its relative smallness against the chain link fence fabric, it is much smaller than a mastiff.

It didn’t really bother me; I assumed it was posted to illustrate the foolishness of grouping dogs by ‘type’.
