Odessa toddler Braydon Wright remains in the hospital after the family dog suddenly attacked and nearly killed him.
It happened over a week ago, but the medical bills are already over a million dollars.
"It hurts that I can't do nothing about it," Braydon's father, Barry Wright said. "If I could switch with him I would."
19-month-old Braydon Wright will have to live with scars because Blue, his great grandmother's blue healer, attacked him on April 15.After learning the dog later had multiple seizures while in the care of Animal Control and eventually died of a stroke, the family now believes a seizure brought on the attack.
So far, the little boy has had brain surgery and more than 900 stitches put in his face and doctors aren't sure if he'll be able to keep his right eye.

Notice they are quick to include a possible reason for the attack, which is better than just blaming the dog. When a dog or human has a seizure, they do not have control or coordination to do such a thing, but a medical condition could very well have caused the dog to change its behavior.

Horrible story, but anyone who donates money for this child’s medical bills is a sucker. The parents won’t pay the bills and nothing will happen to them.

Wouldn’t that be a blue heeler, rather than “blue healer”?

The parents wont pay the bills and nothing will happen to them. Have you tried that?

Perhaps the reporter has a thing for inappropriate puns.

So few, these days, Know Their Homophones. Especially among journalists, a low-end segment, English-usage-wise.

Hope the little guy pulls through alright..I had a snoodle that had seizures but his were grand mal but seizures can affect many different parts of the brain...It is totally possible that seizure caused the attack...so sorry for the family..

I'm a lawyer with experience dealing with people with credit problems. The couple's credit may be badly damaged if they don't pay medical bills, but that’ll be it. Hospitals know they'll never get a million dollars out of anybody and they rarely sue. Even when they do sue, courts know you can't get blood from a stone.

I hope these people do get donations from others. This situation happened through no fault of theirs.

Worse, they let their word processors make bad spelling "corrections."

I don’t begrudge the donations! I just hope the family goes to a lawyer who can cut a good deal with the hospital. Most people who end up with a million dollars in hospital bills take the hit to their credit reports rather than try to pay the bills. Therefore, a hospital would be happy to cut a deal for, say 100k, in exchange for forgiving the rest of the debt. There’s a saying, “If you owe the bank $10,000, it’s your problem; if you owe the bank $100,000, it’s the bank’s problem.”

They probably aren’t even thinking about that with their little one in such bad shape.
