Good morning!

A devastating ecological disaster is overtaking the Gulf Coast area. Some criticism is being aimed at the O administration for its slow response, but ultimately it'll be the oil and energy industry, and us, the consumers, which will bear the weight of government control to come, I fear.

Rahm Emmanuel's rule to never waste a good crisis comes to mind once again.

Even so, I’d still like to see them.

I know I have some better pics somwhere or other. Too bad none of the Sistene Chapel pics came out (lighting was no good at all). They were restoring the ceiling when I was there, and you could see the finished areas right next to the areas not touched yet. The restored areas were so bright they looked like watercolor...;-))

Wonderful! That is one place I would LOVE to visit. Greece, too.

Did you throw a coin into the fountain? For what did you wish?

Thank you Bit, that brought back some happy and funny memories from my days as a tour guide. I’m sitting here chuckling.

I’ve been there twice on very warm days and noticed it was always cool in there.

I was there twice, too, once in December and once in June, and it seems like it's a cellar, it was kinds damp and musty and seemed the same to me both times.

The thing that drove all the Americans nuts was the fact that the restaurants didn't open until after 8pm any night.

You were a tour guide in Rome?

Perky enough. I was at a church which was holding their mission conference this past week. They wrapped it up today. I’m taking a break now and I’ll be at another church tonight. That is, if it quits raining. We have some sizable thunder-boomers going through and I don’t much like driving in this mess. Huntsville drivers are bad enough when the roads are dry! Their trouble is, they drive like they’re all geniuses ... and, especially around Redstone Arsenal and NASA, they are!

Yes, it was musty in there, dank as one tourist described it. I did a bit of “tour guiding” when all the German wives had something else to do, and I could interpet for our drivers. I loved it, met some of the greatest people.

We Americans are so funny, overseas. I’d always inform my tourists cantaloupe was sold by the slice, Itallians took afternoons off, shops and restaurants were closed at this time, their coffee was a bit stronger than ours, Italian Ice cream was to die for and Spanish bread was out of this world good tasting AND keep all receipts for goods bought when returning to Germany...tax. I think it was in Florence a woman bought the biggest, ugliest kitchen witch I’d ever seen, dressed in a shimmering Irish green dress, the guards at the border laughed so hard at the sight, she paid nothing.
