Who can help me understand why we have all this flap about AZ's immigration enforcement when it seems to do nothing different than support the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986?
From Wikipedia: [forgive me this reference, please]
The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), also Simpson-Mazzoli Act (Pub.L. 99-603, 100 Stat. 3359, signed by President Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986) is an Act of Congress which reformed United States immigration law. The Act made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants (immigrants who do not possess lawful work authorization), required employers to attest to their employees' immigration status, and granted amnesty to certain illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and had resided there continuously. The Act also granted a path towards legalization to certain agricultural seasonal workers and immigrants who had been continuously and illegally present in the United States since January 1, 1982.This was to be the line in the sand - no more illegal aliens after this. Now, instead of 2 million illegals, we have 20 million.
Why doesn't the GOP just push for enforcement of the laws already on the books, as signed by Ronald Reagan?

This is a good argument for Arizona to use. The Governor can say we are enforcing the 1986 Immigration act.
because the criminals are considered non white
it is not complicated...at least to the left
Socialists must wipe out the middle class. That’s the goal.

Even though no race is involved, no politician or bureaucrat wants to be called a racist.
The bill was passed because under the Obama administration the Federal law will not be enforced.
It’s really just that simple.
The federal government under Obama has an open invitation for anyone who wants to chance a walk in the desert to come on in .
I remember that was supposed to keep illegals out so the amnesty would be a one time solution to illegal immigration. Before the ink was dry on amnesty bleeding hearts decided the new immigration laws were just too harsh so they were not enforced, the tougher parts were not enforced at all right from the beginning, and those that have been enforced have only been used selectively. This is why we are where we are today.
