Exactly. So, logically...
I spent a little time on it last night but ended up going to bed before posting what I’d found. Sounds as if the originally native “indian” word first heard by European ears by Columbus traveled across the ocean to London, and their period fascination with the “noble savages” of NC and VA led to some rather fabulous tales and a false interpretation of the word into French, with root attributed to barbarity.
This got batted around over the intervening centuries, again back and forth across the Atlantic, and became legendarily entangled with language of the slave trade. Any tale of that nature would have incorporated Haiti and their uprising of the late 1700’s. Modern, leftist authors have further embellished this, despite the fact that even during the segregation era, the local barbecue pit was one of the few public places where there was no segregation. Black or white or indian, they all loved pit cooked barbecue and we all had a hand in it’s evolution.
Thanks for spurring another interesting bout of offbeat research. The things you learn as a result of FR, lol.
ROTFLMAO!
Empty beer cans?
“Mayberry” was set in the central part of the state. Culturally, that is a whole different state from Eastern North Carolina, which is where I’m from. Nowadays, it’s all Yankees and California hippies—Obamaland. I live here because I teach at one of the big universities, but would rather be home. There’s no work for anyone there, though, and never has been.
Sorry guys but if you actually saw all of the sizes and shapes of the stuff then you would realize that it is no ballast nor was it dropped off some canoe 600 years ago.
Although we are no experts on Chert, we are certainly bringing in the experts to qualify the find. These are DEFINITE OUTCROPS....some with fossilized coral growths on them (doubt they got that way in 600 years)
If you do some research there is more and more evidence of a Coastal migration of PRE-CLOVIS peoples that came across Canada and down what was then the East Coast of North America.
Plenty more to come.....just stay tuned :)
I'm of the same opinion. These people at Windover are probably some of those people.
Bye, Bye Beringia (8,000 Year Old Site In Florida)
Plus the Topper site in South Carolina, Goodyear has done an excellent job there.

Please keep us involved in your work.
Glad to be here. I will check back with news when available. I will also check out those links, this stuff is really fascinating to me. Hopefully we can get a grant or 2 to keep this project rolling. So far it has been all self funded and we bout out of said funds :)
By the way, I like that yeller BBQ sauce!
Thanks for your post, that answers my “yeah, but” question, too. Interesting stuff!
FYI ping!
