Gossip Girl Star Taylor Momsen Boasts: 'I Carry a Knife With Me All the Time... Even on a Plane'

Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen was today blasted by anti-violence campaigners after boasting she carries a flick-knife everywhere and even carried it on a plane.

The American actress, 16, told how she has a knife collection and 'relaxes' by opening and closing a switchblade.

She said: 'I have a knife collection. I have my favourite black knife with me all the time. It's a switchblade. 'It relaxes me to flick it. I close it and open it.'

Momsen, who is currently in London promoting her band The Pretty Reckless, went on: 'I flew from New York to Los Angeles and still had a couple of knives in my purse. I thought I took them all out but they got tucked up in the folds.

'I took them through security, took them on the plane, opened my bag to get my wallet in LA and they fell out. I was like 'holy s***',' the 16-year-old added.

But her words were condemned by campaigner Lyn Costello who said her comments were 'warped'.

The co-founder of Mothers Against Murder and Aggression said she should set a better example to young fans. Momsen, who is in the UK to promote her band The Pretty Reckless, made her comments in an interview with the Metro newspaper.

Mrs Costello criticised the US TV star and said: 'When they're put up as a teenage icon or any kind of idol they have to think about what they're saying.

'We're losing our teenagers on a high scale to knife crime. I'd rather they were saying don't have a knife and I certainly am quite appalled by her saying "I sit and play with it to relax me".

Don’t tell Lyn Costello about this thing called “whittling” that rural youth have been doing for centuries. She might not survive that stroke.

Yes, all those whittlers are just gangsters in training, right?

Well, if she ever really needs it, sounds like she’s worn out the mechanism.

Considering her preference for surgery she’s more likely to cut herself than anyone else!

It didn’t say she had surgery.

My son just earned his whittling badge or buckle in Cub Scouts.

I've learned from personal experience that girls with knife fetishes can be fun to date, but just don't fall in love....Trust me.

Too many urbanites are afraid of knives anymore. Once at the store I worked at the box cutters went missing. I whipped out my pocket knife, sliced the box open, and tried to hand the knife handle-first to my coworker so she could do the same with her box. The blood drained out of her face, she started backing away, within minutes everyone except the supervisor was treating me like I had a bomb strapped to my chest, they started asking who I was there to kill. And they were serious!

The supervisor just kind of shrugged and said “So what?”

This woman isn’t against gangsters, she is afraid of knives. Britain is going bonkers trying to stop the “knife culture”.

But it isn’t a “knife culture” or a “gun culture” that is the problem. It is a “selfish culture” that is the problem.

People without morals who will do whatever they want to get everything they want.

Knives aren’t the problem, the violent greed and pride that inhabits those kids that stab each other for profit or bragging rights is the problem.

Lyn Costello doesn’t want to see the evil the British society has bred, so she is vilifying inanimate objects.

She think only criminals should be carrying weapons, and that carrying a knife for self defense is worse than the criminal carrying it.

If not then there is no problem.

I gave my son a knife when he went off to college! Rather he be able to defend himself than just be a victim. He feels a lot safer when he has it. He and I hope he never has to use it. The other person would probably have a gun.

He’d prefer a concealed carry permit, but he isn’t old enough to get one. I believe firmly in our 2nd amendment rights.

Mothers Against Murder and Aggression

Is this for real? That said, who wouldn't be against murder and aggression?

Likely my definition and theirs are a little different, though. I'd carry to prevent it, they'd let it happen and denounce the tragedy of it all.
