BALTIMORE The best thing about paying for an endless supply of beer is that it doesn't matter if you spill a cup.
Enticed by the prospect of refilling their souvenir beer mugs from morning until dusk, thousands flocked to the Pimlico infield Saturday for the Preakness.
One year ago, after Pimlico officials ended the practice of allowing fans to bring their own beer to the event, no longer were fans in danger of getting hit by flying, filled cans.
But who comes to a party where there's a limited supply of beer? Not many, judging by the vast empty spaces in an infield that used to be overrun with people.
Fans still can't tote their own beer, but this year they were given the option of spending an extra $20 to have an unlimited supply of cold brew.

Hope they have an endless supply of porta-potties, too...

Okay, how much for all the Black-Eyed Susans you can drink?
So what is in a Black-eyed Susan drink besides a cherry and an orange wedge?

I hope that fat jerky guy from the Miller High-life commercial doesn’t show up to confiscate the brew....
And what is a ‘preakness’?
The first and only time I was in the Preakness Infield I was piss drunk and saw Secretariat almost half lap the field paying 2.05 on 2.00 to win.

YAY!
OK... Are we talking beer or fizzy yellow water?

Ingredients:
* 1 1/4 oz. Whiskey
* 3/4 oz. Vodka
* 3 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix
* 2 oz. Orange Juice
Preparation:
Fill a highball glass with shaved ice, add the liquors first, then top off with orange juice and sweet and sour mix. Stir and garnish with an orange slice, cherry, and stirrer.
This is not the original recipe, which was better tasting in my opinion, but is the current official recipe. The original called for equal parts of Cointreau, Mount Gay rum, and Vodka topped off with orange and pineapple juice, and garnished with a lime wedge.
FYI - In 2009, a Black-Eyed Susan cost $8.00 at Pimlico on Preakness weekend.
Here’s one recipe:
Pimlico’s Black Eyed Susan Drink
makes two 12oz glasses
Ingredients:
1oz Vodka
1oz Mount Gay Eclipse Rum
1/2 oz Cointreau
6 oz Orange Juice
3 oz Pineapple Juice
Combine ingredients, stir, and pour over crushed ice. Garnish with a pineapple, orange slice, and cherry brochette.
8 bucks last year,, they are sneakers, potent..
It can’t be any worse than when people could bring their own in. Trust me on this.

Do they make porta-pukies, too?
