Just felt a bump like someone hit my chair. Then the wife came out of a downstairs room and asked if I felt something.

Nothing on USGS yet.

I’ve lived in San Pedro for 13 years. Any quake I’ve felt here has been much more intense in another part of SoCal. One actually centered in this area is SIGNIFICANT, no matter how small.

I was only 10 miles from the epicenter of the Northridge quake. One of the most destructive earthquakes in the last century was 1933 in Long Beach, just across the harbor.

True story. Many years ago while a college student, I was in the large university library at a seminar when I felt a slight jiggle. Right about then two very hefty people walked into the room so I didn’t think anything of it. When I got back to my apartment my roommates asked me if I felt the earthquake. I can be very obtuse sometimes.

2.8 off Long Beach?

2.8? That's equivalent to a souffle collapse.

Sure it wasn’t her?

A more likely explanation since I can't see any quake that would register a bump.

(taking shower now)

You know, a long time ago I had a Soap on a Rope. Then I got a radio for the shower and thought that was pretty cool.

Now I find it is possible to post to FR while taking a shower. Got to get one of those. What do they call it, Computer on a Roper or a Shower Computer?

Just don’t EVER take your beeber into the shower.

Trust me.

You don’t wanna know.

If you are a native Californian, you may feel them but you don't sweat them until your bed starts moving across the room or you are suddenly seasick from the rolling motion. Nothing is more disconcerting than feeling solid earth becoming liquid.

I was on the 7th floor of a hotel.

People on the ground felt nothing.
