In Colorado in the early 80’s, we called something similar rochambeau. (Although rochambeau was more a mode of alternative dispute resolution and not for kicks and giggles)

All you parents of sons, get them athletic cups and make them wear one whenever they’re in public.

Sounds like “homosexual assault”. No doubt the perpetrators have got to be rounded up and neutered before they are turned loose on society.

Thanks for the ping, glad the article made it through the gauntlet.

I’m done pinging for the night - off to fold 5 loads of laundry for light entertainment.

Racking went on at my HS in the ‘70s. Most guys viewed it as a prank but some guys didn’t like it and threw punches at the perp. Like you, I don’t know how the prank is done differently with todays kids. I never did know of any of our students needing surgery or med attention.

This is not entirely new. When I was middle school, or junior high age, boys would often hit each other on the should hard to get a reaction, and later the perpetrator was likely to be paid back. And for a short time it took the form of a slap at the crotch.

But this sounds like something much more specific and planned, rather than typical early teen boy grab assing going too far.

For some reason a couple of other articles about this got pulled the other day. Someone sent me the links via freepmail and one boy had to have a testicale amputated. It did not describe what kind of damage he had suffered, but it was pretty severe to require surgery.

This has been going on in schools for generations. It was a fad during the early/mid 1970s when I was in high school in West Texas. Along with “open back” and “open chest” punches to the back and chest. Mostly it was just typical teen-aged boys who were life-long friends surprising each other. There were times when the result was a butt-kicking fight after school. More often, revenge was meted out in Phys Ed class. Oh, wait... they don’t have phys ed in school anymore. Shame.

When I was in 5th grade, it was referred to as “racking your balls.”

Dumb then. Dumb now, but nothing earth-shakingly new.

Sometimes the sarcasm tag gets left off. You are joking aren't you?

They are volunteering.

That reduces my sympathy quite a few notches. Thin the herd.

THANKS.

I think this hideousness needs publicized far and wide and particularly amongst conservatives—those we WANT MOST PROTECTED for future family purposes!

imho, the videos on You Tube look on the surface like ‘typical roughousing’ in terms of the jokes, facial expressions etc.

Yet, there’s a very dangerous perverse compulsion to up the anti until the other guy is so pained as to bow out, thereby ‘losing.’

I suspect many conservative parents would normally be the last to know such was going on. THEY NEED ALERTED.

It is hard to think of a more perverse roughousing fad in my lifetime. God have mercy.

I prefer the traditional term: Assault.

When I was a kid, eons ago, we called it "racking" someone.

Dear Palladin:

This kind of sick crap is happening more and more. Back in the day, only losers and girly girls would resort to low-blows. Now, the bullies think this is funny.

It happened to my son, who was only 7 at the time. An older kid punched him twice (while he and his friend were simply walking from their house to our house, a mere two houses away!).

His friend's mom called me to let me know my son was hurt. I passed the baby over to my husband and flew out the door. One look at my poor little guy and all I saw was red. As the neighbor's son told me what happened, and who did it, I was angrier than I had been in years. People who knew me were alarmed at the rage on my face.

I stormed down the block to house where the bully had retreated and banged on the door. What I said when that door opened is not fit for a family forum, but I was out for blood and called out every member of the household. I assured them that if they so much as looked at a member of my family again, I would find a way to bury every single one of them.

In hindsight, it was a good thing I handed the baby to my husband. He wouldn't have cut the room apart with harsh insults and threats; someone or something would have been broken.

My son started football and fight training with my husband, and we bought a lot more ammo.

He never touched my boy again. In fact, all I have to do it walk outside my house, and most of the kids on the block back away.

It's a lot different from when we first moved here, where all the kids would play sweetly together. The older some of these kids get, the sicker they get. They may be allowed to run wild, but this lioness is not afraid.

I am a mother. You jack with my children, I will F you up.

I saw that episode of Judge Judy with the “Sack tapping” lawsuit. JJ gave the boys a severe tongue lashing about the stupidity.

damn, I must be getting old. I do not ever remember this. If it had happened...then...I can say for sure that any boy pulling this garbage would have been beat to a pulp by half of the boy’s study hall out behind the baseball diamond’s screen. good God, what the hell has happened to our youngsters?

Got kicked in the nuts by a joker but it wasn't a game like this. We called it getting “racked” also. Got me between first and second period classes. He was laughing and thought it was pretty funny along with his friends.

I clubbed him down out back of the cafeteria at lunch with a baseball bat. He wasn't laughing then. I was considered a nerd and he never reported it cause it would have embarased him. He also never messed with me again
