So yesterday, I went to the shooting range for the very first time in my life. If you had asked me 10 years ago would I go to the range and decide to buy a guy, I would have laughed. But times change and so have I.
I have to say, it was pretty interesting. I'm not sure what I expected. But it was loud - even with the hearing protection. I tried 3 different guns - I liked the revolver better than the 9mm's. I did keep my target. I can see that this is going to become a part of my routine now.
The folks at the range were really nice and gave me a lot of good advice.
So, I need to take a class and decide what to buy. I'm kind of leaning towards a revolver - seems a little bit easier maintenance for this newbie.
I grew up in the people's republic of Maryland and was quite the liberal in college. Ironically enough, it was contemplating the 2nd amendment that started me on the road back from the dark side. So, I guess the circle is now complete.
The left hates me already since I’m a Tea Partier. I truly believe that the time is coming when we are all going to have to choose sides. I know what side I’m on. Owning a gun is part of that whole thought process.
Shoot, did I miss Gun Talk tonight? I need to get on mylife’s ping list.

Here are some acronyms or terms people might use:
3”, 4”, 5”, etc. = barrel length
5-shot, 6-shot, etc. = number of rounds a revolver holds
9+1, 15+1, etc. = number of rounds in a magazine (+1 is one in the chamber)
1911 = type of semi-automatic handgun
+P = higher pressure ammo
BG = Bad Guy
BUG = Back Up Gun
EDC= Everyday Carry
FTE = Failure to Eject
FTF = Failure to Feed, Failure to Fire
S&W = Smith and Wesson
